Career Options Nurses work in hospitals, skilled nursing facilities, home health, surgery centers, flight nursing, clinics, mental health centers, industry, schools or health services agencies. Others choose administration, education or research specialties. Nursing Assistants typically work in hospitals, home care and long-term care facilities. Working conditions Nurses work up to 12-hour shifts in around-theclock schedules. The work can involve lifting and a lot of time on your feet and is demanding but rewarding. Income Potential According to the Bureau of Labor Statistics, the annual income ranges from $44,970 to $96,630 for RNs, $29,680 to $56,010 for PNs, and 17,790 to $34,580 for Nursing Assistants. About the Program The nursing program prepares students to safely and effectively fulfill the roles of caregiver, demonstrating caring, competence and critical thinking. Registered Nursing - RN - A.A.S. The Associate of Applied Science in Registered Nursing (RN) is designed to prepare the student for a career as a Registered Nurse. Upon satisfactory completion of the program, the graduate will be prepared to take the national licensure examination for registered nurses. The program is approved by the Arizona State Board of Nursing and accredited by the Accreditation Commission for Education in Nursing.
