dryon Drying / cooling in outstanding quality we process the future Processing Technology

task The basic process of drying is a necessary step in all sectors of industry. Drying has to be performed for all types of bulk materials, such as sand and gravel, crystalline products, foodstuffs and animal feeds, and products from the plastics industry as well as waste products destined for recycling. The following factors are crucial: The drying process is economically efficient The product is of uniform quality The systems offer a high level of availability (downtimes reduced to a minimum) Typical products for drying systems: Product feed Exhaust air Exhaust air Tea, coffee Caffeine Sand Carbon Plastic pellets Granulated mineral fertilisers 2 Hot air Cooling air Product discharge Glass Cooking extrudate lösung The vibrating fluid bed dryers designed by Binder+Co AG fulfil the above requirements to optimum effect. Thanks to its many years of know-how in the construction of vibration equipment combined with its competence in process technology, Binder is one of the leading suppliers in the field of drying technology. Extensive experience in the thermal treatment of all types of bulk materials underlines the company s leading role not only in the construction of individual systems but also as a supplier of complete drying plants. function - models - technology The product to be dried is fed into the dryer on a per-forated base (perforated plate, slotted hole screen, special plates) and a stream of hot (cold) air or another gaseous drying medium passed through the product from below. The product is warmed up under constant vibration and the moisture eliminated. Bulk material Exhaust air The constant vibrations provide for mechanically customised solu-tions for every individual product and result in the following benefits: Prevention of bubbles forming in the fluidised bed in the case of fine-grain products, thus improving energy utilisation. Perforated plate Drying air Springs (Vibration) 3 Prevention of segregation of products with a wide range of grain sizes. The vibrations ensure all products, even coarse grains, are loosened up. Easy emptying of the dryer since the particles are conveyed through the dryer by means of vibrations. This facilitates switching between products. Influence on dwell time and the quality of the product to be dried by means of adjustments to the vibrations. models Binder+Co AG builds drying systems with surfaces between 0.2 m 2 and 54 m 2 per machine. The product range features complete systems including hot gas generators, dedusting equipment and I&C technology. technology The technical concept for Binder s vibrating fluid bed dryers is based on the screening machines the company has manufactured as circular or linear vibration screens and oscillating resonance screens. Dryers with a length of up to 8 m are designed as vibrating screens equipped with double unbalance motors. Systems up to 18 m in length are used for greater capacities. They are based on the tried and tested oscillating resonance principle with reduced dynamic forces. This also applies to large vibrating masses.

drying and cooling - minerals + soils task When processing minerals+soils, drying may constitute an essential procedural step depending on the problem to be solved. Especially in the following cases, drying of the bulk material is indispensable: moist, unscreenable material is to be screened at small mesh sizes production of premixed mortar from pit-wet sand refining of the bulk material 4 With their special fluidised bed, the vibrating fluid-bed dryers designed by Binder+Co AG more than satisfy the high requirements of the minerals+soils industry in terms of quality, efficiency and economy. quality The technical concept of continuous vibration enables the achievement of a consistent quality of the material to be dried. Depending on initial moisture content, up to 150 t/h can be dried and cooled on one machine. efficiency In many applications, the material needs to be cooled after it has been subjected to drying. Both procedural steps can be carried out in one and the same machine by using the vibrating fluid bed dryers designed by Binder+Co AG. high economy By employing a closed circuit between cooling and drying zones, it is possible to put the economical principle of heat recovery into practice. The quantity of heat contained in the exhaust air of the cooling zone which is withdrawn from the cooled material is recirculated to the drying zone. Therefore, the amount of thermal energy needed for drying is far smaller than in comparable systems.

drying and cristallising - plastics task Increasing demands on granulate material used in the plastics industry require an optimisation of all processengineering methods. The treatment of amorphous granulates is crucial for the quality of the end product and involves separation of dust and foreign matter 5 elimination of surface moisture crystallisation of the amorphous granulate By allocating the processes of crystallisation and drying to two machines, both the quality of the end product is improved and the capacity of the plant increased. This advantage can be used not only in new plants but also optimise the processes of existing plants. result The principle of the vibrating fluid bed ensures careful handling of the granulate in the crystalliser and keeps the particles from caking together and sticking at the glass transition temperature. In this way, different kinds of granulates which tend to clump as well as recycled material can be treated. Moreover, this guarantees a swift drying of the surface moisture and the even crystallisation of the resulting amorphous granulate. And both energy consumption and the amount of exhaust gases are reduced by the air circulation in the closed crystallisation cycle. system configurations Binder+Co builds plants for the crystallisation of a large variety of plastic granulates (such as PET, PE, PP and recycled materials, etc.) with throughputs from 40 to 4,000 kg/h. Single machines as well as complete crystallisation plants, including auxiliary aggregates and MSR technology, are manufactured.

drying, sublimating and cooling - chemical products task In the chemicals industry, many products appear as crystals in solvents or water. On the other hand, among the properties required of the final product are those of a pourable and stable material fit for storage. This is why, apart from mechanical solid-liquid separation, thermal drying constitutes an important procedural step. 6 The special features of the vibrating fluid bed dryers designed by Binder+Co AG satisfy the high requirements in many sectors of the chemicals industry. Quality-defining parameters such as supply-air conditioning and exhaust-air purification are laid down by experienced process engineers in order to optimise production sequence and product quality. quality The consistent quality of the material to be dried is ensured by the technical concept of continuous vibration. Even for hygroscopic or temperature-sensitive materials, the system conception guarantees the desired drying results. Due to the input of heat for the drying process, sublimation can be obtained in one and the same machine. The sublimate is recovered from the exhaust air in its pure form. Recycling of evaporated solvents and prevention of oxidation of the moist product is achieved through a closed and inertisated gas circuit. efficiency By combining the procedural steps of drying, sublimation and cooling in one machine only, it becomes possible to obtain both a markedly reduced energy consumption and a compact process. High availability, short cleaning intervals, and only minor maintenance requirements ensure maximum product output.

drying and cooling - foodstuffs and animal feed task Snacks, breakfast cereals and other products of the foodstuffs industry, as well as fodder for domestic animals and fattening stock all require drying after the most varied forms of pre-treatment. This treatment is crucial for both quality and stability of the product and needs to be performed reliably and in compliance with the stringent hygiene requirements. 7 The drying and cooling systems designed by Binder+Co AG for different qualities of foodstuffs and fodder operate according to the principle of the vibrating fluidised bed. Apart from maximum material and heat exchange, this provides for gentle treatment in 2-3 different temperature zones. The plants are usually fitted out with an air-circulation system, and multiple use of the air flow leads to a reduction of the energy input and the amount of air used. function The water-vapour content in the drying air is significantly raised by means of the air-circulation system. This reduces the O 2 content and thus helps to make the air flow unreactive. This system developed by Binder+Co also allows products to be dried whose dusts can lead to explosive mixtures. high level of availability Cleaning and maintenance of this system are limited to washing the end-product chamber after a standstill or product change. Cleaning is easy and can be done manually or by using a CIP system.
