Guide to Business Gas Tariffs from Bord Gáis Energy Introduction and background Bord Gáis Energy assigns business customers a tariff based on three sets of data supplied by the network provider. 1. Metering Type Some meters, known as daily metered (DM), are capable of automatically supplying a meter read each day, others known as non daily metered (NDM) are required to be manually read. Your metering type is assigned by your network provider. 2. Annual Quantity (AQ) A network generated forecast of a customer s consumption for the given year. 3. Supply Point Capacity ( SPC) A network generated forecast of a customer s maximum daily requirement (i.e. the most gas a customer is likely to consume based on historic usage patterns) This data is reset each year by the network provider and changes are based on historical usage patterns. Using this data a customer is assigned a tariff on the following basis:

Customers have two options regarding managing this cost: 1. Monthly Floating Each month a new unit rate is derived from the moving cost in the European gas market. The rate changes each month as the market reacts to supply and demand issues. Customers choosing this option will have no certainty as to the unit price. 2. Fixed Prices Contract Each month BGE creates a price plan for customers. Price plans offer customers a fixed rate for each month based on the current market conditions. If you choose a price plan then those unit rates will apply throughout your contract irrespective of changing market conditions. This option provides certainty for customers and can assist in budget and cost control Our sales team on 1850 211 541 are available to take you through the contract process or any other FVT related queries.
