Assembly CAUTION This product contains small parts in its unassembled state. Adult assembly is required. Upper Post IMPORTANT! Assembly of the lower post to the base is permanent. Follow the instructions in this step carefully. Lower Post Lever Lever Rib Groove Plug Base 1 Position the base on a flat surface with the plug facing you. Align the rib on the bottom of the lower post with the groove in the opening of the base. Insert and push the lower post down, using a circular motion, until it snaps into place. Hint: For easier assembly, apply liquid soap (or rub a candle or bar soap) around the end of the lower post, especially on the corners and the inside of the opening in the base. If assembling inside, place a tarp under the base to protect the floor surface. 2 Push both levers down on the lower post. Insert the upper post into the lower post, as shown. Push the upper post completely into the lower post. Lift the levers to secure the upper post in its lowest position (4 feet). Hint: Height adjustment instructions are on page 6.
Assembly Hint: Apply labels # before applying label #1. 1 4 Hint: Apply labels # before applying label #2. 2 Slots 5 6 Net Assemblies Hint: Apply label #4 before applying labels #5 and #6. Wipe the backboard with a clean, soft dry cloth to remove any dust or oils. Apply the labels as shown in the illustration. For best results, avoid repositioning labels once they are applied. 5 Insert and "snap" the net assemblies into the backboard slots. Ball Return Groove Rim 4 #6 x /4" Screw - 12 Bend the ends of each ball return up. Fit the ends of a ball return to the indents in a rim. Insert a #6 x /4" screw into each end of the ball return and tighten. Repeat this procedure to assemble the other ball return to the other rim. 4 6 Back View Face the back of the base. Position the backboard so that the back is facing you. Insert and "snap" the backboard into the groove in the upper post.
Assembly #8 x 2 1 /2" Screw - 2 Hinge Hinge 7 #10 x 1" Screw - 2 Score Paddle Score Paddle Insert the #10 x 1 screws into the backboard and tighten. 9 Locate the hinges just below each rim. Fit the score paddles to the hinges on the backboard. Insert a #8 x 2 1 /2" screw into the outside edge of each hinge and tighten. 8 #8 x /4" Screw - 4 Insert four #8 x /4" screws into the backboard and tighten. 10 Plug 5 Bend the "T" end of the plug and insert it into the hole in the base. Fill the base with water or approximately 50 lbs (22.5 kg) of sand (water and sand not included). Fit the plug into the base.
Adjusting Backboard Height Battery Installation IMPORTANT! Only an adult should adjust backboard height. Also, make sure children are not standing below the backboard when adjusting height. 1.5V x "C" (LR14) SHOWN ACTUAL SIZE Lever Lever Locate the battery compartment door on the back of the backboard. Loosen the screws and remove the door. Insert three, C alkaline batteries into the compartment and replace the door. Tighten the screw. Back View To raise: Lift the upper post and push the levers into the desired height slots. To lower: While holding the upper post, push the levers down. Lower the upper post to the desired height (4, 5 or 6 feet). Lift and push the levers into the slots on the post. Battery Safety Information Batteries may leak fluids that can cause a chemical burn injury or ruin your toy. To avoid battery leakage: Do not mix old and new batteries or batteries of different types: alkaline, standard (carbon-zinc) or rechargeable (nickel-cadmium). Insert batteries as indicated inside the battery compartment. Remove batteries during long periods of non-use. Always remove exhausted batteries from the toy. Dispose of batteries safely. Do not dispose of batteries in a fire. The batteries may explode or leak. Never short-circuit the battery terminals. Use only batteries of the same or equivalent type as recommended. Do not charge non-rechargeable batteries. Remove rechargeable batteries from the toy before charging. If removeable, rechargeable batteries are used, they are only to be charged under adult supervision. 6

Free Throw Mode Follow the Leader Slide to turn power One-On-One Head-to- On or Off O One-On-One Score the most points before time runs out. Beginner Watch the timer you and a challenger have 60 seconds to score the most baskets. Advanced Press the Beginner/Advanced button on the electronic backboard. Shoot quickly - you and player 2 have only 0 seconds to score the most baskets. P.I.G. (beginner) and H.O.R.S.E (advanced) Miss a shot, take a letter. Spell P.I.G. or H.O.R.S.E. and you re out! Beginner Shoot a basket. If you make it, great job! Now it s player 2 s turn to match the shot. If you don t make a basket, you get a letter! Game play continues until a player spells P.I.G. and is out! Advanced Press the Beginner/Advanced button on the electronic backboard. You and a challenger take shots (same as Beginner) until a player spells H.O.R.S.E. and is out! Follow the Leader Can you make the shot and beat the buzzer? Beginner Listen carefully to the instructions and look at the L.E.D. (Player 1 Score and Player 2 Score) on the electronic scoreboard. Match the pattern by making a basket or baskets in the left or right hoops. You have 15 seconds to make the shot or shots as directed! Advanced Press the Beginner/Advanced button on the backboard. Game play is the same, but the patterns are much more difficult to match! Free Throw Mode Shoot hoops, score baskets! Shoot as many baskets as you (and a friend) would like there is no time limit! The electronic backboard keeps score 2 points for each basket made. Hints: - If the power switch is in the On position and the toy has gone into "sleep" mode (if it has not been used for about four minutes), you can simply press one of the game selection buttons or make a basket to "wake" it up. - If you press a game selection button while you are already playing a game, the game stops and the selectee game starts. 7
Care and Maintenance FCC Statement (United States Only) This toy includes two inflatable balls. If the balls become soft, inflate them with a standard, manual air pump with a standard air needle. Each ball will contain the correct amount of air when its circumference measures about 21-22 inches (5-56 cm). Measure the circumference of the ball with a tape measure or with a piece of string cut 21-22 inches (5-56 cm) long. Do not over-inflate the ball. To clean, use a clean, damp cloth. Be sure to remove soap residue. Do not immerse this product. Do not leave this toy outside in freezing weather. Water left inside the base will freeze and possible damage the base. Check all fasteners regularly to be sure they are tight. If the fasteners are not tight, tighten them as necessary. Check plastic parts regularly and if broken or cracked, dispose of them properly.
