It is open to in service students who wish to improve their basic education, and to pre service students who may be interested in pursuing a career in law enforcement. Option I, identified as Pre Professional, is structured to meet the requirements of the Minnesota Peace Officer Standards & Training (POST) Board Professional Peace Officer Learning Objectives. Successful completion of the Option I program, along with a "skills" component, qualifies a student to take the exam to be licensed as a peace officer in Minnesota. Admission Requirements: Admission to Option I is granted by the Government department and requires satisfaction of the departmental GPA and course prerequisites as well as POST board documentation. Since these requirements are subject to change, students should contact the Department of Government office for current admission requirements. Both academic and physical agility standards are course requirements, for which passing grades are necessary. Advising: You are expected to meet with your advisor on a regular basis to ensure courses are taken in an order that will lead to successful completion of the degree.
