PROGRAM OVERVIEW The Master of Business Administration (MBA) program at the Rutgers School of Business Camden is designed to provide you with a broad professional education in business administration that will prepare you for the increasingly complex demands of management. The Rutgers Camden MBA is designed with the working professional in mind and the program conveniently offers classes in the evening and on Saturdays. The majority of students in the program are enrolled part-time, although students can opt to complete the program on a full-time basis. The Rutgers Camden MBA offers you a deep appreciation of the enterprise as a whole, with courses in policy and strategy as well as the basic functions of business, such as accounting, finance, marketing, MIS/ecommerce, operations management, and international business. You will have the opportunity to take elective courses in these functional areas as well as entrepreneurship, finance, human resource management, and management. Graduates of the program typically seek employment with service and industrial businesses, government, and nonprofit organizations. I feel this experience has made me a stronger leader. I better understand and communicate the management, financial and operational decisions that are made to increase the value of our organization. Sue Slominski (2013) Senior Director, Media Services Comcast AACSB Accredited The Rutgers Camden MBA is accredited by the Association to Advance Collegiate Schools of Business, which represents the highest standard of achievement for business schools worldwide. Less than 5% of the world s 13,000 business programs have earned AACSB accreditation.

My basic philosophy is to bring realworld applications to every topic that I teach. In doing so, I believe it helps students understand and remember the material better and, thus, enables them to more effectively apply their knowledge learned in the classroom to their jobs. In my MBA courses I apply recent advances in marketing science and theory to real life cases and everyday marketplace situations. I encourage active learning by engaging students in discussions, thought-provoking exercises and teamwork. Many MBA students have extensive business experience in various fields and are able to share and offer insights from their industries. As a professor and practitioner, I never found an economic or financial theory not useful for managing an organization. Some are more useful than others. The MBA program is fun to teach because students can immediately apply what they ve learned in the classroom to their current job. I feel that I am not only a teacher, but also a mentor. I encourage my students to interact with me, as well as their fellow students, both in and outside of the classroom about work experiences, ideas, and questions, as these interactions can establish new and diverse perspectives. Chon-Huat Goh Associate Professor of Management Yuliya Strizhakova Assistant Professor of Marketing Richard Michelfelder Clinical Associate Professor of Finance Julie Hancock Assistant Professor of Management

, THE RUTGERS EXPERIENCE PERSONALIZED Through a combination of case studies, seminars, guest speakers, team projects, and simulations, our professors turn complex concepts into useful tools that you will use throughout your career. Small class sizes provide a dynamic learning environment that will allow you to build strong relationships with your classmates and professors. The MBA Student Association is a student-run organization responsible for providing networking opportunities for current MBA students with peers, faculty, and alumni. The association assists in organizing executive dinners, trips to local companies for tours and information sessions, and acts a resource for students and alumni to enhance professional development. The MBA Student Association sponsors several events each semester that allow students to engage in conversation outside of the classroom setting. The purpose of these events is to establish a strong camaraderie with peers and to build a professional network foundation that can be utilized after graduation. Each professor was very thoughtful to the students, knowing that most of us are employed full-time, among other commitments. Having said that, they are relentless in their education, always providing real-world examples of how our class work applies directly to what is going on in the world and in the workplace. Kyle Seidel (2012) Financial Analyst Campbell Soup Company Being involved in the MBA Association, I was able to better the community around me by establishing charitable drives and service events in Camden. I have continued this service after graduation and it has been rewarding beyond my expectations. Matt Raposo (2011) Finance Manager L-3 Communications The Rutgers Camden MBA Executive Lunch Series brings together students and leading business executives. Once a semester, executives take time out of their busy schedules to share their stories with MBA students and discuss their business or profession. Some of our recent guests are graduates from the MBA program and include: Jon Geisler ( 79), Vice President, McLaughlin Asset Management Ninfa Saunders ( 79), President and CEO, The Medical Center of Central Georgia (formerly President and COO of Virtua Hospital) Mark Baiada ( 69), President and Founder, Bayada Nurses Thomas Cellucci ( 91), Chief Commercialization Officer, U.S. Department of Homeland Security

Many of our MBA students balance family life, work, and school work, so I don t want my students wasting their time memorizing terms. I focus on how to apply academic knowledge and theory to real-world business issues. By working with students to tackle high-level management scenarios, I hope to give them a broad, executive perspective that helps them achieve their goals. Shoko Kato Assistant Professor of Management I believe my responsibility as an instructor is to challenge my students to maximize their learning. I work hard to create an interactive environment in which the students feel encouraged and are able to acquire the accounting knowledge and skills they need. Ivo Jansen Assistant Professor of Accounting My goal is to help students learn current, research-based content in information systems, ecommerce, and project management, as well as to acquire and refine multiple skills, methodologies and problem solving approaches, so that they are empowered to competently solve important organizational and societal problems involving IT strategy. Julie Kendall Professor of Management I encourage students to develop a personal goal of continuous improvement and to think of expanding the pie for all. Briance Mascarenhas Professor of Management

DUAL DEGREE JD/MBA and MD/MBA PROGRAMS The Rutgers School of Business Camden offers joint-degree programs that allow you to earn two degrees in significantly less time than it would take to earn them separately. In cooperation with the School of Law Camden, the business school offers a JD/MBA dual-degree program for students interested in pursuing a J.D. and MBA degree. The Rutgers School of Business Camden has also partnered with the UMDNJ-Robert Wood Johnson Medical school to offer the MD/MBA degree. JD/MBA As the legal environment of business becomes ever more important and intense, businesses and organizations face greater and numerous challenges that involve management and the law. Individuals with skills in both general management and its surrounding legal context have become extremely valuable employees in the private or public business sectors and in the legal profession. Law firms require sound management decisions, and their clients often require attorneys with the ability to comprehend the complexities of business. Likewise, effective business managers and entrepreneurs must comprehend the legal environments in which they operate. The Rutgers Camden JD/MBA program prepares students to consider the legal side of business and the business aspects of law. The program helps MBA students understand the value of legal expertise for any organization, and builds a solid foundation in management for law students. Our celebrated faculty will challenge you, and our curriculum will give you the practical and analytical skills you need to excel in business and the law. MD/MBA The medical profession is becoming increasingly complex, and physicians are no longer exclusively involved in clinical care and research. They must be ready to become leaders in the business of practicing medicine, which will ultimately result in improved healthcare. An MD/MBA degree provides essential management education that aids physicians in understanding the large impact that the business of healthcare has on patients. An MBA also provides essential skills to physicians who own a private practice or are thinking of starting a business. Other career options for MD/ MBA students are wide ranging and may include becoming a director of a public healthcare agency, a medical director or a consultant to pharmaceutical companies. The cross-disciplinary study in the JD/MBA program will assist me throughout my entire career, whether I work for a corporation, law firm, or government agency. It provides me a foundation for a variety of positions and will open doors in both law and business. Erin M. Fay (2007) Assistant Prosecutor Camden County Prosecutor s Office

I have always possessed an unquenchable curiosity about emerging information technologies. I especially enjoy introducing the latest innovations to my students. While I am conducting my research or revising my textbooks, I am sharing new methods, new applications, and new technologies with my students. Kenneth Kendall Distinguished Professor of Management I enjoy teaching strategy and sparking my students imaginations in class by providing them with the right tool kit to analyze and think of out-of-the-box solutions for complex business problems. With the business environment changing rapidly, being able to analyze the firm as a whole is a critical skill, and it is very rewarding to see my students visions and perspectives broaden every day. Anuja Gupta Assistant Professor of Management An instructor is a facilitator, sharing responsibility with everybody in the classroom for the learning process. A facilitative atmosphere for learning is achieved via mutual caring and understanding where the instructor and the students both learn from one another. This sharing of power and authority encourages rapid, deeper learning and stimulates creativity and self-direction. Alok Baveja Professor of Management Business has access to a lot of quantitative and qualitative data these days, and so the need for analytical and decisionmaking skills is more important than ever. Armed with business skills and knowledge acquired during the MBA program, our graduates quickly increase their contributions to their firms and accelerate career advancement in the process. Julie Ruth Associate Professor of Marketing

GLOBAL OPPORTUNITIES The International Study program at the Rutgers School of Business Camden is a unique alternative to traditional three-credit courses. The emphasis is on integrating brief periods of travel with regularly offered courses. During the Spring term, we offer one or two courses to extend the work of the classroom into a first-hand experience of cultural life outside the United States. South Africa Study Program The South Africa Study Program gives Rutgers School of Business Camden students a first-hand look at how business is conducted in an emerging growth market. The program s highlight is a 12-day trip to South Africa where students and faculty meet with businesses and government agencies to learn about the business practices in the region. Business meetings in Cape Town, Johannesburg, and other locales are the core of the itinerary. Sightseeing and visits to cultural institutions round out this once-in-a-lifetime academic experience. Cape of Good Hope, South Africa The South Africa International Study Program was the most outstanding experience of my MBA studies. It galvanized many of the abstract academic principles I had covered in courses such as International Business and Global Marketing. With this trip and course, the Rutgers School of Business has created and refined a program so special presenting such a unique educational and personally transformative opportunity that every MBA candidate, regardless of their concentration or career path, should find a way to accommodate it in their course of study. It s something you would never regret nor ever forget. Jeff Turin (2002) President Propellerheads, Inc.

Brazil Study Program The Rutgers School of Business Camden (RSBC) offers a three-credit course that introduces the concepts, framework and issues of doing business in Brazil and Latin America.
