DEMO NAS Create a LUN Create a Share Vmware Create a iscsi Datastore Create a NFS Datastore Clone a VM Online iscsi LUN Expansion Windows 2008 Server Create easily a LUN on QNAP NAS Copy some files... Expand it online if more capacity is required 8
Virtualization : iscsi LUN Snapshot & Backup You can back up the LUNs on the NAS to different storage locations, restore the LUNs to the NAS, or create a LUN snapshot and map it to an iscsi target.
Virtualization : needs Backup the VM to a large storage VM are larger and larger Users requires versioning Users requires full VM backup Offsite backup for disaster recovery
Back up Servers to NAS: Veeam Backup a Virtual Machine: NAS used as destination storage Large capacity to store all the Virtual Machine states is needed Benefits using Veeam with QNAP NAS: Veeam can backup running virtual Machine Continuous Data Protection Instant VM Restore Recovery a single application Recover a single file Affordable storage for easy backup and restore Support Disaster Recovery with offsite backup and replication
Virtualization : Built-in Backup Built-in Backup Function VMWare VCB (VMware Consolidated Backup) or VMWare Data Recovery Citrix VM Backup and Recovery Microsoft Windows Server Backup QNAP NAS is compatible with virtualization vendors backup solutions.

Appendix If necessary
Virtualization : iscsi LUN Snapshot & Backup LUN Backup: Instant or scheduled backup Backup destination: Windows share (SMB/CIFS) Linux share (NFS) Local folder on the NAS
Virtualization : iscsi LUN Snapshot & Backup LUN Restore: (from snapshot) Overwrite the original LUN Create a new one by renaming the LUN LUN Snapshot: Create a read-only LUN snapshot and mount the snapshot to an iscsi target on the NAS to allow data access from other hosts. The contents of the LUN snapshot will remain the same regardless of the changes made to the original LUN.
Storage For Desktop Virtualization Office Environment Store the Virtual Desktop images on QNAP NAS Expand your storage capacity easily for Desktop and Application virtualization Enables productivity for any user, anywhere Increases user choice and flexibility Makes desktop management simpler, more secure and lower-cost 20
Shared Storage between departments Shared resources Less hardware Share storage between departments like Sales and Accounting teams Reduces the costs with virtualization Save electric power with a low power consumption storage Allows cross-platform access 21
Primary Storage Repository You can deploy the Turbo NAS as: NFS storage repositories iscsi storage repositories Affordable storage for SMB to start with virtualization at lower costs 22
Backup Storage for Virtualization Environment Backup storage (secondary storage) Easy integration QNAP NAS supports remote data replication Supports third-party backup software 23
