The PDO will be achieved through rehabilitation and improvement of dams and improvement in central and state-level institutional capacity to sustainably manage dam safety administration and operation and maintenance. Has the Project Development Objective been changed since Board Approval of the Project? Yes No Component(s) losure Authorized Public Disclosure Authorized Component Name Component Cost Rehabilitation and Improvement of Dams and Associated Appurtenances 378.00 Dam Safety Institutional Strengthening 25.00 Project Management 34.00 Overall Ratings Previous Rating Current Rating Progress towards achievement of PDO Satisfactory Moderately Unsatisfactory Overall Implementation Progress (IP) Moderately Unsatisfactory Moderately Unsatisfactory Overall Risk Rating Implementation Status Overview Physical progress with the rehabilitation and improvement of dams remains very slow. The previous review mission in April 2013 had set as target that each state should have at least five dams under implementation by the end of December 2013 to show concrete evidence that the implementation is moving in the right direction. Several states have made good progress, but that is not yet reflected in contracts under implementation and overall implementation progress is still lagging significantly. As agreed with DEA, the target has been revised with an estimate to have 22 and 34 contracts awarded at the end of December 2013 and end of March 2014, respectively. Page 1 of 5
