1. NetStar Connectivity Requirements using NetStar are responsible for managing their own network and Internet access. (Please refer to attached sample network diagram.) Installation of a high speed Internet connection o 5 Mb connection (e.g., broadband cable) o 10 Mb/s download speed minimum per PC from the Internet o 30 Mb/s download speed minimum per PC for larger o Network latency under 100 ms to/from Internet servers located in New Jersey Static Public Internet Addresses the Company is required to have their Internet Service Provider (ISP) must provide static public addresses for its router(s), so that they may be permitted by the NetStar Access Control List (ACL). Proxy Server Considerations: If a proxy server is used in your network environment, please take note of the following consideration in order for NetStar to function properly. If NetStar requests will pass through a proxy server, a configuration file is needed on the client PC. This file will tell NetStar how to find the proxy server. Another Option is to bypass/ white-list NetStar requests from a proxy server in order for NetStar to function properly. NOTE: Only one of these options should be used. Option 1 - To proxy NetStar requests: 1. Create a configuration file called http.cfg. Open Notepad Type or cut and paste: proxy.server=<the_proxy_server> proxy.port=<the_proxy_port> Replace <the_proxy_server> with your proxy server address Replace <the_proxy_port> with your proxy server port 2. Save the file as http.cfg, Place the file in the c:\netstar directory. 3. Re launch NetStar. Page 5 of 7

Quick Tips Several basic steps are recommended to improve performance on your PCs: Run Disk Cleanup and Disk Defragmenter, which are listed under Start>All Programs>Accessories>System Tools. These tools will help improve hard drive performance. Go to Start>Run and type msconfig. On the Startup tab, uncheck any programs that you don t want to auto-start when Windows loads. This will free up memory and CPU resources. Remove any active file-sharing or Internet-radio applications. This will free up bandwidth on your Internet connection. Change your screen resolution to 1280x1024 if the monitor supports it. On most PCs, this is done by right-clicking on your desktop background and going to Properties>Settings.
