IBAN conversion services Local Austrian legacy account numbers and bank codes (Bankleitzahls) can also be converted to their IBAN format using a service provided via the Austrian Society for Payment System Research and Cooperation ( STUZZA, see www.stuzza.at). Your legacy account numbers are forwarded to the account holding bank, which will convert the legacy account to IBAN and will reply to STUZZA. If you deliver STUZZA a file with your Austrian counterparties, the total conversion cycle via STUZZA is approximately two weeks. RBS offers you legacy Austrian account to IBAN conversion services and, if needed, automated enrichment of your payment files, as part of RBS SEPA Accelerator. This scheme allows for shorter (D-1) file submission timelines for first/one-off and recurrent collections compared to the regular Core scheme timelines, with D-5 and D-2 respectively. All other characteristics of this scheme are the same as for the regular SDD Core scheme. RBS intends to support SDD COR1. 7 SEPA Country Sheets - Austria

Reason code usage In case of unsuccessful collection, the R-transaction reason code ISO Rejection Code AM04 (Insufficient Funds) will not be used by Austrian debtor banks due to local law; meaning this code will not be reported when collecting in Austria. Code MS03 (Reason not Specified) may be reported instead. Exception handling of legacy Direct collections At the time of writing, the rules of post-migration handling of R-messages related to legacy direct debit collections have not yet been established. This is currently under investigation in the local bank community. Mandate management Legacy mandate migration Legacy mandates can be migrated to the SDD Core Scheme. If you wish to use the SEPA Business to Business Scheme, you need to issue a new SEPA-compliant mandate and ask the debtor for a new signature. When the first SDD collection has been correctly processed, the legacy mandate is considered migrated. First SDD Core Collection Instruction Due to the fact that Austrian legacy schemes do not carry mandate information, the migration to SDD Core is done by using the transaction type FIRST. In this way the mandate-related information will be stored at the debtor bank. 10 SEPA Country Sheets - Austria
