Benchmarking is often viewed through higher education scholarship as A standard or reference by which others can be measured or judged (Webster s Dictionary) Finding out who is the best in an area and adopting their best practices Ongoing and continuous data collection, analysis and actions based on that data (from baseline data to periodic data collection) Searching for best practices and using such practices for continuous progress which leads to superior performance

Each Benchmark should be sanitized relative to specific objectives,specific measures of success identified in yearly strategic plan update. Examples include --Becoming entrepreneurs and innovators -Seeking feedback from corporate partners regarding skills reflected by recent graduates --State of the arts teaching methodologies --Students engage in research and entrepreneurial activities --Strengthening Co-Op program that advance student experiential learning --Developing sustainable resources --Policies and procedures that enhance operational performance and accountability Improving admission, retention and graduation rates by employing best practices that grow enrollment and support --Build off of high demand programs --Develop partnerships with corporate sponsors and other universities --Enhance operational performance through shared governance, use of performance management and evaluation/assessment systems
