CollegeSportreceivedaC+forracialhiringpracticesbyearning78.5points,downfrom82.3pointsin the2013csrgrc.collegesportreceivedacpforgenderhiringpracticesbyearning69.4points,down from75.9pointsinthe2013csrgrc.thecombinedgradeforthe2014csrgrcwasacwith74.0 points,alsodownfromanoverallc+with79.1pointsin2013.itwastheworstcombinedgradeever issuedinthecollegergrc. RichardLapchick,theDirectorofTIDESandtheprimaryauthoroftheCSRGRC,said, Itwasextremely discouragingthatthisyear scsrgrc showedfurther deep overalldeclines. Thedropintherace and gendergradesemphasizedanareaofcontinuingandalarmingconcern.collegesportstillhadthelowest grade for racial hiring practices and is now tied with the National Football League for gender hiring practicesamongallofthecollegeandprofessionalsportscoveredbytherespectiveracialandgender ReportCards. Lapchicknoted, Itwasespeciallybadnewsthattheopportunityforpeopleofcoloramongmen sand women sbasketballheadcoachesdeclinedsignificantly.forthe2014season,22percentofthemen s DivisionIbasketballcoacheswereAfrican7American(downfrom23percent)and23.8percentwere coachesofcolor(downfrom24.8percent).theall7timehighwasin2005706,when25.2percentofall theheadcoacheswereafricanamericanand26.2werepeopleofcolor. Whileithasbeencommonpracticeformentocoachwomen steams,itisrareforawomantocoacha men steam.thiswasaccountedforinthegradesforcoachingforthesecondtimeinthecsrgrc. Womenheldonly38.2percentoftheheadcoachingjobsofwomen steamsindivisioni,34.8percentin DivisionIIand43.9percentinDivisionIII.Womenheld47percent,48.5percent,and51.2percentof assistantcoachingpositionsofwomen steamsindivisionsi,ii,andiii,respectively. DivisionIIIEthnicMinorityandWomen sinternshipgrantprogram TheDivisionIIIEthnicMinorityandWomen sinternshipgrantprogram(divisioniiiinternship)was foundedtoassistinenhancingdiversityandinclusionwithindivisioniiiathleticsadministrativestaffs. TheInternshipGrantisa$23,100grantdesignatedforaDivisionIIIinstitutiontohirea107monthfull7 timeindividual,givethatpersontheopportunityforlearninginadministrationandcoaching,withncaa memberinstitutionsorconferenceofficesprovidingadministrativesupervisionandmentorship throughouttheprogram.assistantcoachingresponsibilitiesareallowed,includingstrengthand conditioning,butthepercentageoftimefocusedonassistantcoachingshouldberealisticbutbeno morethan50percentoftheoutlinedjobresponsibilities.
