Ateneo de Manila University The Ateneo de Manila University was established in 1859.As a Jesuit University, it seeks the goals of Jesuit liberal education through the harmonious development of moral and intellectual virtues. As is common in the Philippines, the primary medium of instruction is English, with a few classes taught in Filipino. At the higher education level, Ateneo offers undergraduate and graduate programs through the Loyola Schools and the Professional Schools.
