Every Angle 05 Management will want to use straight forward, reliable and flexible operational KPIs and users want to be able to create their own operational reports as soon as needed. Instead of Every Angle, other systems such as Excel and Access are used for similar tasks. These are systems that do not integrate with SAP or any of the operational processes, which means it can take hours or even days to create the regularly required operational reports and overviews. The greatest risk here is that, when many different versions of the truth are created, it is extremely unsafe to make business decisions. Every Angle 07 Customer case study: Heineken Netherlands Supply The KPI Dashboard of Every Angle at Heineken Netherlands Supply (HNS) is used in addition to the Every Angle standard Operational Business Analytics add-on. Every Angle was initially used to improve data quality and reliability as well as quickly obtain difficult to access SAP data. A very powerful additional gain to implementing Every Angle was that it improved the sentiment and attitude towards SAP in a very short time. Users suddenly saw more clearly the benefit of the SAP system and the way it helps Heineken to execute their daily processes in an efficient way. Management issues Every Angle became a powerful tool to help management and staff members to answer questions regarding overall stock levels in order to reduce working capital, measure the conformance to the schedule of departures of vessels from the Port of Rotterdam, and even determine the carbon footprint of HNS. S&OP and the Every Angle KPI Dashboard Engine Heineken is one of the first companies in the world using the Every Angle Dashboard Engine within the area of Sales & Operations Planning. The KPIs are presented on an easily accessible (internal) website of HNS and consist of several stock overviews, service levels, lead times in the supply chain and measurements for forecast accuracy and bias. Usually, the interpretation and analysis of this kind of data is a well known, notoriously difficult exercise, but by using the new Every Angle ETL tool set, this topic is solved with a minimum of effort. An overview of the most important KPIs of Heineken Netherlands is presented as a balanced score card. In a historic overview, Heineken s management can quickly evaluate the progress on the KPIs, compare the performance with pre-set targets, and slice & dice the data using the powerful and intuitive drill down functionality of the KPI Dashboard. The data for this S&OP Dashboard is provided by the Every Angle Dashboard Engine mainly from SAP, but also from sources in Oracle, SQL and even Excel. Results The results Heineken gained by implementing Every Angle are very positive. The Return on Investment (ROI) of the overall investment was achieved in a relatively short period. Every Angle 11 Every Angle and BI There is a world of difference between Every Angle s Operational Business Analytics solution and traditional BI. However, organizations that do not know Every Angle regularly ask: We are already working with SAP BI (BW), why do we need Every Angle? In the words of a customer, BI is a tool for the generals, Every Angle is a tool for the front lines. Every Angle and SAP BI (BW) complement each other. SAP BI is very effective at creating management reports which trend historical data. Every Angle s great strength lies in creating highly-detailed operational overviews from current data which are predictive as well as actionable. Every Angle shows what the status looks like tomorrow, next week or next month if no corrective action is taken today. Using Every Angle, business users can pinpoint what needs to be adjusted, take action and achieve a KPI instead of retroactively being measured by it, as is the case with traditional BI. 12 Every Angle Every Angle on SAP ERP system By connecting Every Angle to the organization s SAP ERP database, business users will see the system s advantages in their day-to-day work. The technical installation will take two days at most. Subsequently, Every Angle will run in a pilot environment on the organization s own system (Phase B), after which the implementation and roll-out take place (Phase C). Phase Lead time Activities Preparation 2-4 weeks During the preparation an Every Angle consultant works together with the customer to ensure that the project will be successful. The preparation phase consists of: drafting a project plan (objective, parties involved and responsibilities) availability of required resources (management, IT and key users) availability of hardware (suitable Windows server). Every Angle 13 Phase B: Every Angle live on your own SAP ERP system After the preparation, you want to see Every Angle in action on your own SAP ERP system. There are several possible scenarios, depending on the objective of this phase: Proof of Concept: you can see the software work with your own data Quick Scan: you will see an analysis of your own processes Pilot implementation: you can experience what it is like to be a key user working with Every Angle. Phase Installation Lead time 2 days Activities The Every Angle software is installed on the Windows server and linked to your SAP ERP system (DEV => QAS => PRD). The installation is completed with a technical and functional acceptance test. Proof of Concept 2-3 weeks During the Proof of Concept phase, Every Angle is demonstrated live using your own SAP ERP data, so that you can assess the deployability and applicability yourself. This will demonstrate that: Every Angle is live within two days with all standard functionality Every Angle is fully and automatically configured on the basis of the SAP customization adding customized fields and tables is easy to achieve. Quick Scan 4-6 weeks During the Quick Scan Every Angle looks at: data quality (master data and orders) service levels of suppliers, production locations and customers stocks (surpluses/shortages) bottlenecks (backlogs and planning problems). Pilot implementation 3 months During a pilot implementation, the organization is given the opportunity to work with the Every Angle software. A group of users will be trained and supervised. 14 Every Angle Phase C: Every Angle implementation within your organization After having seen and used Every Angle on your SAP system, you can start using Every Angle operationally, integrating it into your organization. Phase Lead time Activities Key user implementation 2-4 months During the key user implementation, 5 to 15 employees will be trained to become key users. Every Angle will be deployable immediately for a great variety of applications, so there will be immediate results. At the end of this phase, you and the consultant create a plan for Every Angle s roll-out in order to ensure a smooth integration into your organization. Embedding and organizational roll-out Continuous During this phase, Every Angle is integrated into the daily operations. This involves validating Angles and including these in work instructions. Every Angle is deployed as a standard IT solution in the organization and is available for all Every Angle users to execute Angles for their day-to-day work. Fig 6.
