ANTI FRAUD BUREAUS Anti-Fraud Bureaus are generally state operated agencies that have been organized to detect, investigate and deter insurance frauds of many types. Fraud bureaus and insurance company Special Investigative Units, or SIU s, work closely with law enforcement and organizations such as the National Insurance Crime Bureau [NICB], which employ valuable analysis and forecasting techniques for the detection and prevention of insurance fraud. While many bureaus deal with a wide variety of frauds, some are limited to investigate only specific types such as vehicle-related frauds or workers compensation.
