Believe in Ohio s Believe in Ohio has established an Network to recruit models and mentors for Ohio s urban youth based on the Each One, Teach One concept. The network is part of Believe in Ohio s commitment to an All Hands on Deck Inclusive Competitiveness strategy to engage all Ohioans. Each One Teach One is an African-American Proverb This phrase originated in the United s during slavery when Africans were denied education, including learning to read. Many, if not most slaves were kept in a state of ignorance about anything beyond their immediate circumstances which were under control of owners, the law makers and the authorities. When a slave learned or was taught to read, it became his duty to teach someone else, spawning the phrase "Each One Teach One. The original author of the proverb is unknown. More about what and parents are saying about Believe in Ohio More about what and parents are saying about Believe in Ohio DR. DEANNE NOWAK Science Teacher at Gilmour Academy I love the Believe in Ohio program. It s inspired our who are science minded to start thinking about business. To start thinking about taking what they know about science and turning it into a business. In addition to that, it has helped my colleagues to start thinking that way, because like me, they were never trained to think of themselves as entrepreneurs. ANGEL PEREZ Parent of student at Hudson I really, really enjoyed the overall concept of the program and the fact that it is targeted, but still fairly open. Whatever are interested in, it could fit within this program and they could explore it further.
