Energy Saving Products Heat Load Calculator Ver. 3.4 ESP Heat Calc 3.4 - Requires Microsoft Office XP (Excel 2002) or newer Heat Calc 3.4 is designed to provide fast and accurate load calculations, and ease system design for the Hi-Velocity Soft-Aire System. The program is split into several worksheets to separate the different stages of design. Information Page On page 1, you can set all of your design and company information. It is recommended that you set your local design conditions, enter in your company information, and save the file onto your hard drive for your working copy. The items of construction can be changed with the pull down menus, which have a variety of standard building materials. The items tagged OTHER can be manually changed and renamed from the DATA worksheet. Design conditions can be set or changed at any time during your calculations. The HEATING TEMP. and COOLING TEMP.. is the maximum/minimum outside temperature that you will experience in your design area, and the program will use a 70 Deg. F indoor temperature to calculate the delta T. AIR CHANGE / HOUR can be used if you wish to automatically allow for constant ventilation or infiltration. Page 1 of 10

Input Page This page is where all of your building information will be entered in on a room-by-room basis. All of the data from your Information Page will be carried over to this page. You can enter up to 26 different rooms and you can also skip lines if you wish to separate different areas of the building. The information for each room from left to right is: Room Name Room Length in feet Room Width in feet Square footage of Room Area auto calculated Lineal feet of exposed wall Ceiling height Square feet of Glass windows and skylights with different exposures Cold Floor: o Square feet of area for when the room is over an unconditioned area or o Lineal feet of perimeter when there is slab edge loss Square feet of exposed ceiling Square feet of standard doors Square feet of glass doors Loss and Gain BTUH for extra heat gain due to people, appliance or lighting loads, or to quickly add figures from a previously done calculation. Extra F/A CFM CFM of outdoor air required if you base ventilation on a room use basis F/A CFM auto calculated ventilation requirements based on your air change per hour Fancoil Area allows your to design a layout with two separate fancoils for the residence Page 2 of 10

After all inputs are complete, you can review the heating, cooling, and ventilation totals for the structure you are designing. Room totals are carried over to the next page, which is your fancoil sizing page. Areas Page The Areas Page produces a summation of the design from the room inputs. The left side chart will summarize Zone 1 and the right will summarize Zone 2 if a second fancoil is being used in the design. Location of the duct and plenum runs can be selected from the Duct Location radial buttons, which will influence the heat up cool down factors. Hot water temperature supplied from the Hot water tank can be selected from the drop down menu Select Heating Design TempMode. The default is base upon a 160 degree entering water temperature. The desing temperature of the residence can be selected from the Select Cooling Indoor Temp drop down menu. The default is based on a 70 degree indoor temperature. The middle chart totals the information for a summary overview of the residence. If more than one fancoil is in use it will total the 2 areas. The bottom chart is also a summary of the design for easy reference. Page 3 of 10

Design Page On this page you will see summaries of the information calculated from the previous pages. Here you can use pull down menus to select the fancoil(s) needed for the project, as well as enter in your flex duct requirements on a room-by-room basis. There are columns for 10 and 15 Assembled Flex Duct kits, as well as a column for how many extra feet of extension (UFD) flex may be needed. These flex duct numbers will all be carried over to the pricing page. There are selection buttons to give you the choice of a design based on Heating, Cooling, or both. There are also selection buttons for the type of insulation you wish to use on the 2 flex duct, which can be changed on a room-by-room basis. The program will do both a fancoil check and a vent check to ensure that all design criteria for your selections are valid. This page will also indicate which fancoil units are needed for the minimum heating or cooling demands. If the design is correct you will see the text Within Design Range for Selection in the lower right hand corner. If too many outlets have been selected you will see the text Too Many for Selection. If you don t have enough outlets for the design layout you will see the text Not Enough for Selection. In the lower left hand corner there is an option for additional vent placements in unconditioned spaces. A Basement, B Crawlspace, C Joist Space. The drop down menus on top of the page Cooling Indoor Temp and Heating Water Temp are redundant options which are also on the Areas Page. If these are changed on either page they will change on other pages. This is a redundant option for convenience. Page 4 of 10

Pricing Page This page allows you to select the model and style of fancoil(s) needed for your project, as well as accessories. You can select either a BU (Blower unit only) or an H (Heating coil included) for the fancoils, and then type in the quantity. You also have selection buttons to toggle between RCM refrigerant modules to WCM water modules for cooling, and RA return air bases with filter rack or FR filter rack only. These are all optional. If you have a job that requires some BU units and some H units, select all BU units and then add in the appropriate HCA Heating Coil Add-on. The flex duct inputted from the design page is automatically carried over and cannot be changed from this page. There are several cells marked as Other. Both the name and the price can be manually entered in from the Data page, and can be either checked as a List price or a Net price from the data page. Page 5 of 10

Pricing Page (cont.) Cell A21 on the Data page is a multiplier for all ESP List prices, as well as all the Other items that were selected to be a List Price. The default for the Other items is List, unless otherwise checked as Net. Note: the accessories will not be added to the total if Add to Total is not checked. Data Page The Info Page Other Construction Data can be used for atypical construction material. Allowing the flexibility to use factors of any construction material. Heat up and Cool Down factors can be utilized to allow for either recovery from a setback thermostat, or for duct heat loss and gain. Page 6 of 10

The List Multiplier is changeable according to your multiplier and will reflect the changes on the price page. The MISC. is for other materials or option which deal with the current project and will be added into the pricing page. If the Add to Total is selected from the price page. Data Page (cont.) These fields can be manually edited to keep your Heat Calc spreadsheet update with the current Hi-Velocity prices. Fax Page This page will take the Job/Company info and put it into a basic fax cover sheet. Everything here is customizable, and will not effect any calculations or pricing. It is simply for convenience. Page 7 of 10

Chilled Water Page Information will transfer over from the input page to this one, showing the heat gain and number of vents required depending on the Entering Water temperature (E.W.T). From these inputs you can add additional heat gains to a room, by changing the values under BTUH per Sq Ft according to specified values within the Ashrae manuals. To add these values to the project click the Add to Total option by the room name. Page 8 of 10

Hot water tank sizing If you are using a dual-purpose hot water tank as the heat source for your fancoil, this page will assist you in sizing it properly. The heat loss from your input page will be carried over to this one, and you can also add in extra heat loss if you calculated part of the job from a different worksheet. A safety factor can also be added on to the total if required. In the DUAL PURPOSE WATER HEATER SELECTION section, enter in all of the information for the heater that you wish to use. Secondly, count the number of bedrooms and bathrooms in the house, and from the DUAL PURPOSE WATER HEATER SIZING CHART, select the domestic requirements of STORAGE, BTUH INPUT, and FIRST HOUR DRAW. Enter this information in the DOMESTIC DEMAND FROM ABOVE CHART section. The program will then calculate how much is available for heating purposes and determine if the selected water heater has sufficient capacity for both the domestic requirements and the heating. Calcs Page This page has nothing to do with the heat load calculations directly, but is useful for conversions or as a design aid for numerous applications. This page can be considered a Beta Version Calculator, and as such, will have no real support until it is fully ready. It is included mainly for field feedback purposes at this time. In brief, there are formulas for Indoor/Outdoor Air mixing, BTUH calcs, Motor sizing, HV SEER ratings, Airflow conversions, Duct size/airflow calcs, Pipe sizing, and some common conversions. Like any other computer program, this heat load calculator will be updated on a continual basis.
