A Professional Track consists of a minimum of eight courses. Approximately three of these are required courses that form the basis of your specialization. They cover the necessary advanced professional knowledge that you ll need to continue on in your academic pursuit. The other courses that you choose are electives relevant to the Professional Track. The following Professional Tracks are presently available at UNB: Required courses cover the necessary advanced professional knowledge that you ll need to continue on in your academic pursuit. MBA IN SPORT AND RECREATION MANAGEMENT In partnership with the Faculty of Kinesiology, UNB offers an MBA in Sport and Recreation Management. In this joint degree program you first take the Foundation year and Strategy course in the Faculty of Business Administration, and then you complete your Professional Track with UNB s Faculty of Kinesiology. You will take a combination of courses in general management, as well as in sports and recreation. This program allows you to take your passion for sport and recreation and turn it into a viable and satisfying career. That s definitely not business as usual. MBA/LLB If Law is your area of interest, UNB offers a joint MBA/LLB Program. This degree is extremely useful in today s dynamic business world where the laws that govern business constantly change and have an impact on our world. Organizations require the expertise of individuals skilled in both business and law. In four years you will earn your Master of Business Administration and a Bachelor of Law, making you a valuable asset to any organization and giving you a tremendous advantage in an always-changing workforce. Unique Options Not only can you choose from a wide range of electives in different business subjects, you also have unique hands-on learning options that are exclusive to UNB. EXPORT PARTNERING PROGRAM See your export-marketing strategy come to life! In The Export Partnering Program, MBA students are matched with small- to medium-sized businesses in Atlantic Canada. Students work with these companies to develop an export-marketing strategy targeted at the New England States. In the spring, you or one of your team members will participate in a trade mission and see exactly how well your export-marketing strategy works. MBA CONSULTING GROUP There s no better way to exercise your newly acquired skills than to use them in a real, professional setting. The MBA Consulting Group gives students the chance to be contracted by a company and prepare a consultancy report for them. While you gain high-level experience and make valuable contacts within the business community, you ll also be earning credits toward your degree. STUDENT INVESTMENT FUND If a career in finance and investment is your dream, this program might be what you need to get the valuable knowledge and understanding that only hands-on experience can give you. The Student Investment Fund (SIF) program enables students to invest real money in the capital markets. It combines finance theory with hands-on investment experience and an integrated study preparation for the Chartered Financial Analyst (CFA). Since it began in 1998, students have grown a pension asset fund from $1 million (CDN) to over $2 million. FULL-TIME OR PART-TIME Most students take a full load of eight courses in each academic year, along with the Professional component of the degree. However, you may take less than a full load and pick up the courses during Spring and Summer Session or in your second year. If you are considering being a part-time student, you can take up to six credit hours in course work per term. This means you should complete your MBA within five years. If you take additional courses during Spring or Summer Session, or if you switch to full-time status for one or more terms, you can shorten the length of time needed to complete your degree. 4 5
