For this edition, the organisation committee has decided to use the expression International Biennial of Vallauris. Contemporary creation and ceramic to stress its intention of making ceramic creation part of the world of contemporary art. The event is organised under the auspices of the Municipality of Vallauris Golfe- Juan. All documentation and correspondence should be sent to this Committee at the following address: Comité de la Biennale, Biennale Internationale de Vallauris (BICC), Hôtel de Ville - Place Jacques Cavasse - 06220 Vallauris phone: 04 93 64 34 67 e-mail: biennale@vallauris.fr - Website: www.vallauris-golfe-juan.fr 2 The XXIst INTERNATIONAL BIENNIAL OF VALLAURIS (BICC) will be organised around two major events: - a competition reserved for ceramists who are nationals of a European Union member country. It will lead to an exhibition and the awarding of prizes. - an invitation to a country to be the guest of honour. A selection of exceptional works will be presented for the occasion. The country chosen for 2010 is United-States. 3 The exhibition by the guest of honour country will be held in the «EDEN» room from July to November 2010. However, the committee reserves the right to modify the exhibition opening and closing dates. The presented works will be selected by the Biennial Commissioner. They will not take part in the competition. Each selected ceramist will receive an honorary diploma. 1

The works selected for the aforesaid competition of ceramists will be displayed in the Magnelli Museum, the Ceramics Museum of Vallauris, on the same dates, that is to say July to November 2010. ART. 2 THE COMPETITION The competition is intended to encourage and make known European talents using the reputation of Vallauris, the town of ceramics, as a springboard facilitating their recognition around the world.
