Renewable Energy Project Best Practice

-Energy Efficiency -Global Environment -Electric Power Systems - Energy Storage -Data Monitoring and Collection

Two cases of the best practice projects will be presented : * Solar photovoltaic off grid system in rural areas in Palestine * Solar Water heater system

1 KWH to meet their basic needs, and supporting their steadfastness in those area. And also this resource considered as a clean energy, so the CO2 emission will be reduced in comparative of using diesel generator which pollutes the environment.

Using different methods for implementing PV system Using Dispenser for limited energy consumptions

-Centralized PV system: for community which their clusters closed to each other. -Decentralized PV system DC systems and AC systems: for community which their clusters far away from each other (each cluster has their small PV system). So, this increased the number of beneficiaries family to over 160 one.

So, this devise is to ensure a decided electricity consume which, in one hand gives security to the final users that this quantity of energy is really delivered and on the other hand ensure the electricity service operator that the whole users don t exceed the system electricity delivery capacity. The intelligent part of this concept consists in the Dispenser functionality of communicating to the users this level stimulating them to consume in sunny hours and alerting them when the state of charge of the batteries is low, and to consume in a responsible and sustainable way for the system.

1- All component of system work within their rated limits ensuring the minimization of black-outs. 2- The components of the micro grid life span are extended. 3- The overall system efficiency is higher 4- The cost of maintenance and operation around zero. 5- Better control of cash flow by the operator. This type of project is transferable and applicable in any remote community with no electricity service.

Practically the users pay a fix monthly fee and so contract an amount of energy (EDA) which take into account their energy needs and their payment possibility and which the dispenser deliver to them daily. This fees puting in an account of the community to allow the beneficiaries to maintain the system and thus will extend the life span of PV system component.

ERC team put a project management plan, include as follow: - the procedures and processes which provide timely information to the project decision makers to effectively manage the project, costs, schedules, and quality of project components. -The role of each member of project staff ( ERC team, other staff) in the delivery of project. This plan provide a general framework which lead to a commitment of the team work in their duties and this is one of the reasons of success of project.

- provided for the annual submission of updates which based on reasonable assumptions of future increases in the cost to complete the project :- These annual updates serve as an important planning tool - providing information on actual cost, expenditure and revenue performance in comparison to the initial estimates; and, tracking funding shortfalls, which allow to make the necessary financial adjustments to assure the completion of the project.

Distribution of leaflets and posters which informed the potential users on the capabilities and advantage of PV system and the steps to conserve the consumption of energy. A major changes in any community often evokes resistance based on fear.

The first project was implemented in Mnazel which had high impact on the citizen of area which found solar energy projects as last resort to support their steadfastness to remain in their land also had a significant impact because it oriented the media about what is happening in these remote communities in addition of increasing the awareness of the Palestinians to the use of alternatives clean energy and become independence from control of Israeli electricity company.

These projects have received acceptance by these communities.

training the users in these community where the system are installed include three stages; : to identify their situation and how the PV system can improve their life to make them interested in using these technology.

: to explain the component of system and the impact of project and how to manage the consumption of devices and using high efficient applications. : review the system work, component and impact and give them steps to conserve the energy by guide them into high efficient devices and number of hours for using each device and also how to do a simple maintenance or how to know if there is problem to contact the technician. In collaboration with community service make a day for the children of these communities peppered with recreational activities and drawing on the faces and activities of awareness of the importance of solar energy and how to conserve energy.

The need for implementing renewable energy system is often attributed to a variety barriers or condition that prevent investment from occurring. Many barriers could be consider as political, that Israeli occupation prevents the people in those area to get basic service in order to force them to leave the land, and also the rough nature of region make Obstacles to reach those area and help the people there. In addition, there was no policy regulations to protect the right of resident because its area c and under Israeli control, and also there is no party to cover the high capital cost and funding the project.

The use of solar heating system is widespread in Palestine, but the innovative idea here how to use the solar collector and boiler at the same time, so we used collector of type linue paradigm CPC solar collector in order to rise the temperature of cold water which entering the boiler from (10-50 C) and this make the diesel boiler works faster and more efficient and also with the preservation on the boiler this will ensure getting hot water in the winter and when there is no sun.

The use of solar heating system is widespread in Palestine, but the innovative idea here how to use and control the solar collector and boiler at the same time, so we used collector of type paradigm CPC solar collector in order to rise the temperature of cold water which entering the boiler from (10-50 C) and this make the diesel boiler works faster and more efficient and also with the preservation on the boiler this will ensure getting hot water in the winter and when there is no sun.

This type of project is the first in Palestine and it is suitable with the goal of getting hot water faster and all the time, so this project was one of the best practices in the field of investment in renewable energy resource for heating the water whether academically, economically and environmental safety. So this system can be used by other competent authorities for either heating the water or space with addition of some technical things.

After installing the SWH the yearly budget become around 40000$, and this saving now we using it to implement other SWH in other systems. The Carbon dioxide emission decreasing around 57% from rate of gas emission which were produce before, so this consider as steps in green building application.

using thermal solar system is common culture in Palestinian communities but through implement these project, It become possible to take advantage of these systems in integrated with another system to get effective results, fast and large capabilities.
