Mission The National Association of Women MBAs (NAWMBA) is a not for- profit organization dedicated to empowering women MBAs in order to propel more women into top leadership positions in corporate America and to enhance the diversity of the nation's workforce. The organization accomplishes its mission through educational support, professional development, collaboration, and the development of a strong national network of Women MBAs and organizations committed to the development of women s roles in business. The purpose and aim of the Lehigh University Chapter of National Association of Women MBAs is to Promote involvement of Lehigh Women MBAs in national and regional professional networking activities Promote involvement of Lehigh Women MBAs in national and regional professional workshops & seminars Facilitate participation of Lehigh Women MBAs in national and regional career fairs Address various women specific corporate issues through speaker series and discussions led by esteemed Lehigh MBA Alums and other professional experts. Election Process: Officers will be elected/ appointed during the month of January by a majority vote of those present at the meeting, and shall take office immediately or two weeks following the election. Officers will serve for a period of one year or one semester. Officer Qualifications: The Officers of NAWMBA will be selected by the current NAWMBA officer group through a formal, anonymous voting process. The Officers of NAWMBA must meet the following qualifications: Female MBA Student Have completed at least one semesters as a Lehigh MBA Student The ability to assume position for one full academic year/one full semester Demonstrated academic excellence : GPA over 3.2 Have completed one active semester as a NAWMBA member Have completed at least two years of professional work experience Willingness to attend annual NAWMBA conference Ability to attract and increase Lehigh NAWMBA membership Demonstrate tact and patience when dealing with potentially emotional situations Enthusiastic attitude and zeal for Lehigh s MBA program Have a personality that inspires MBAs to participate in NAWMBA activities and events General Association Requirements All officers are required to attend NAWMBA meetings which will take place as and when the need arises. Excessive absence will result in the loss of title and officer seat. Officers are expected to attend all NAWMBA events and activities. Officers who do not attend at least 4 events/activities will be replaced in the following semester. Officer Duties President will preside over all meetings, conduct all official organizational business, drive the growth of NAWMBA membership, and develop organizational strategy along with other team members 3
Vice President will preside at meetings and conduct all official organizational businesses as required, work with the president in growing the organization and delivering excellent programs. Takes full responsibility in the President s absence. Secretary will be keeping official minutes and records, and will distribute and process communications among members ; Responsible for all external communications, marketing campaigns and university press release of NAWMBA events. Treasurer will be keeping accurate records of all financial matters and will be collecting dues; will prepare semester wise budgets. NAWMBA Meeting: Rules of Engagement Meetings will be held as and when the need arises for various calendar events of the organization Meetings run for sixty minutes One of the Officers records meeting minutes The meeting time and place must accommodate the needs of NAWMBA officers. NAWMBA President leads and manages meeting. NAWMBA President is responsible for meeting agenda Significant meeting topics are defined as those requiring more than 3 minutes of speak time. All significant meeting topics must be placed on agenda. In order to be included on agenda, significant meeting topics must be sent to NAWMBA President 24 hours before meeting. If a significant topic was not submitted in time to be included on agenda, the topic will be discussed if there is remaining time at meeting and/or if the officers are able to stay for an extended meeting should the topic require additional time. If these conditions are not met, the topic will be discussed in the following week s meeting or over email if required. The meeting will follow the format provided below: 5 Minutes - Agenda Overview 10 minutes Updates from NAWMBA Director 25 minutes Officer Updates 20 minutes Closing and Questions NAWMBA President retains the authority to close meeting discussions when necessary. Meeting attendees can speak when called upon All meeting members will listen and communicate in a respectful manner Meetings will begin and end on time unless the group agrees to extend the meeting 4
Membership Benefits NAWMBA National Conference Attend the yearly event for professional development and network with corporate sponsors and MBA women across the country. The conference includes networking and panel sessions for students and professional women, a leadership meeting, a career fair, and inspirational keynote speakers. Case Competition Participate in the annual case competition. This event, held at the National Conference, provides members with an opportunity to demonstrate their knowledge and offers cash awards up to $5,000. Networking Connect with peers and professionals, discuss shared experiences, and gain a network of women MBAs to support you throughout your career. Career Opportunities Online Career Center provides full time and internship positions. Local Events Join local events to network with alumni, professional women, and local chapter members. Attend events to gain knowledge from women who currently hold various roles post MBA. Career Development Webinars NAWMBA is partner with IVYEXEC, the high profile executive search firm. Members have access to the series of career development webinars hosted by IVYEXEC throughout the year. Leadership Development Develop leadership through national and local chapter positions and the opportunity to host a National Conference. 5
