of 7 2013-06-22 10:48 Enkätresultat Enkät: Course evaluation 2013 Status: öppen Datum: 2013-06-22 10:46:36 Grupp: Besvarad av: 20(27) (74%) Aktiverade deltagare (VT13 5HI009 Projects in health informatics - from idea to specification (5hp)) 1. To what extent do you think you have achieved the stated course goals? fördelning 0% 0% 15% 10% 40% 35% 0% antal (0) (0) (3) (2) (8) (7) (0) -With the lack of feedback during the course, it is hard to know exactly what was the course goals. The syllabus is one thing but some feedback along the way is needed. -We have not worked in a very formal way, but that may be how it is in reality. 2. To what extent do you feel that the course developed your previous knowledge? fördelning 10% 5% 0% 30% 30% 25% 0% antal (2) (1) (0) (6) (6) (5) (0)

of 7 2013-06-22 10:48 -The knowledge and skill I used in this course are acquired from another course "User requirement engineering", I learn nothing new from this course. 3. To what extent do you feel that the design of the course was appropriate to the goals set? Don t know/not fördelning 0% 0% 10% 25% 55% 10% 0% antal (0) (0) (2) (5) (11) (2) (0) -Not enough instruction and collaboration from teacher and client -I would have liked a seperate course for just Project management and Agile. 4. To what extent do you feel that the study aids (PingPong, Internet links, Articles, Journals and other material) helped you achieve the goals? fördelning 5% 5% 20% 15% 35% 20% 0% antal (1) (1) (4) (3) (7) (4) (0) -Our team communication was done mostly outside PingPong -The course tried to use the features that pingpong offers. But PingPong is not good enough compared to all other services out there that students use today. It was frustrating and annoying that we was "forced" to use pingpong when we could be more effective and more creative if we were using other services. -I did not read much of the material, partly because I already have some knowledge about processes and team

of 7 2013-06-22 10:48 development from before. We tried to use PingPong, but found that we used Facebook and Skype, mostly. We did use PP for document editing and sharing. 5. To what extent do you feel that the teachers were able to support your learning during the course? fördelning 15% 5% 10% 10% 30% 25% 5% antal (3) (1) (2) (2) (6) (5) (1) -We got a lot of Internet links for reading, I was hoping there could be a few lectures for discussion -A big lack of feedback from teachers in the course. We had deadlines that was for those that wanted extra feedback, but the teachers never even gave feedback to those groups that decided to hand in for this extra deadline. -HArd to say, because we did not get any feedback on the submissions. I guess we could have had help if we had asked for it. 6. To what extent do you feel that the tests/exams was appropriately designed with respect to the goals? fördelning 0% 0% 15% 5% 65% 15% 0% antal (0) (0) (3) (1) (13) (3) (0) -We need to submit 4 assignments for this course, I kind of feel neither teacher nor client cares about the quality and content of the assignments, and I had no motivation to work on the assignments at the end. 7. To what extent do you feel that the workload during the course was reasonable in relation to the extent of the course/number of credits awarded?

of 7 2013-06-22 10:48 fördelning 5% 10% 10% 10% 35% 30% 0% antal (1) (2) (2) (2) (7) (6) (0) -Comparing to other courses in HI programme, this course is too easy and workload is even less that a 2.5 credits course. -Perhaps too low workload. Specially regarding to other courses with the same amount of points. -It was to easy, the subject is so large and we could do much more and still have time for own reflection. 8. To what extent do you feel that you have acquired and relevant practical skills? fördelning 0% 10% 5% 20% 50% 15% 0% antal (0) (2) (1) (4) (10) (3) (0) -The knowledge and skill I used in this course are acquired from another course "User requirement engineering", I learn nothing new from this course. -Needs more practis for that. -In order to gain anything from a course like this regarding project leader ship we would have needed a theoretical course about that first. 9. To what extent do you feel that the course has helped you develop a professional attitude?

of 7 2013-06-22 10:48 fördelning 0% 10% 5% 20% 30% 35% 0% antal (0) (2) (1) (4) (6) (7) (0) -Clients and users should be actively involved in an Agile project, and improve the product through iterations. This is no the case in our project. -Depends on what one means by "professional", but I would say yes because being a professional means being a human working with other humans, and I have learned a lot about that. Like I wrote on the top; we have not been very formal. 10. What were the strengths of the course? (Give the three most importtant) 15 har svarat av 27 (55%) -Scrum with PHS students, they were great! -Groupwork with different skilled people The feedom to structure the work PH collaboration -- Project proposals are quite interesting - Public Health students as reference team is good -Includes teamwork. Mixes us with other students from another programme. -Group work Project development --Group meeting -Daily scrum meeting -Discussion with other department. -- The practical team meetings. - Collaboration with PH group. - The idea of a client, to give feedback... -It was a very nice course. -The course was a very helpful course to build your project management knowledge. -- Group Work - Working on a real problem - Combining knowledge gained from previous courses -Interesting and rewarding setup. -Very clever design of the course becuase it lets students free to work however they want and find their own ways to solve/avoid conflicts and learn from that. -Practice -Relevant and useful subject! -1. Being told that "failing" the project is an acceptable, even a useful result. 2. The collaboration with the Public health students. 3. The well defined and realistic project proposals. 11. What were the weaknesses of the course) (Give the three most important)

of 7 2013-06-22 10:48 15 har svarat av 27 (55%) -No feedback on assignments even when returned in time -Not getting the feedback 2 To short to try things both as a member and a leader -- Lack of lectures and instruction from teacher - Lack of collaboration from client - Lack of communication between project teams. We are a class, but we don't see each other for 4 weeks in this course. It is good to have progress checkpoints with other projects in the middle. -It's very hectic and confusing to find things on pingpong (templates, material...etc) The final presentations comments were concentrating more on the product although the product is NOT the main goal of the course. -Time --Short time. -Have not got enough feedback. -Group should be created by teacher. --That the idea of feedback from our client didn't work out. So despite that we followed dead-lines we didn't gain anything from it, that was promissed... - Too few lessions about project management. - If directions are set in the beginning of the course, don't change them during the way... -Nothing -We didn't get the feedback on time. -- Ping pong (not that useful when it comes to interaction and cooperation) - Sometimes feeling alone on the process because there are no actual lectures -The course "promised" us that made sure the stick to some non-mandatory deadlines. But even tho we made the deadline, we dident get any feedback. Feedback is about to get a bit extra from the teachers, bit extra assistance and learn more. I still want my feedback, even if i get a high grade. I dident chose to hand in for feedback because i felt that the subject was hard. I did it because i wanted to get a response on how my way of working is compared to those that have more experience than me. I think it is quite disrespectful to not give us the feedback. I can understand that it was a busy time (hell week). But it does not mean i should suffer because the teachers had so many other tasks to do. --- Instructions to the assignments was quite confusing and did not help the groupwork, was more a hinder. ---- Pingpong is not a good platform their tools and services are impressive, sure. But they are not good enough to make a student pick a pingpong service over for example google doc service. Give the students the freedom to use good services, not half done things. --Not frequent touch and not frequent feedback from our client -Little time as a team leader -Not enough feedback from the costumer -Two courses in one was one to much -1. The freedom in forming the teams. I believe that the quality of the outcome of this kind of course is very dependant on the members' ability to realise what the intended learning actually is. 2. The short time. I think that it would be more satisfying or interesting to be able to enter into Wheelan's fourth stage, and also to have more conflict to work with. Also the rotation of roles was limited by the time. 3. The use of the PingPong system. To me, it is rather confusing and obscure, especially the communication features. 12. Any suggestions for how to improve the course? (Give the three most important) 12 har svarat av 27 (44%) -Announce the course contentan early in semester one to start early to read about project management and personal goals in this matter. Open the log book early. Speciellt for the younger students that may not have tried so much of being leader or teammember.

of 7 2013-06-22 10:48 HI is a lot about projects. It is in the description of the program and the work abilities. -- Have a few lectures about project management. Giving lecture is better than giving internet links to 500 pages of material. Besides students can meet in the lecture and exchange ideas. - If students are expected to work hard in the project in order to deliver high quality product, the client should do so as well. - Have checkpoint in the middle of the course, the course feels so lack of coordination and control. -Because these ideas were already implemented, maybe connecting the students with people who had worked with these projects would be of a great benefit for both parties. -More time -No -No. Its a nice course. But feedback on time is expected. -- Maybe, study visits related to the projects on which we work on - Maybe, include some lectures where students report what they have done until that day -I have waited for this course. I really liked reading the material that was handed out. But why did we have so much time with nothing scheduled. Give us one lecture per week about the subject!! -Add one or two lectures about project management-team leadership at the first week -Should have been preceeded by a theoretical project management course. -Have one couse with only project management -1. Extend it in time and points. 2. Perhaps control the team compositions or somehow identify the different kinds of learning that comes from different kinds of teams. Maybe you already do that, but it is not apparent to me, anyway. 3. Get rid of PingPong. 13. What was your overall impression of the course? alternativ Very poor Poor Fairly poor Fairly good Good Very good fördelning 0% 15% 5% 10% 40% 30% 0% antal (0) (3) (1) (2) (8) (6) (0) -PBL gone way bad.
