introduction The PACCAR Medical Education Center, located on the campus of Adena Regional Medical Center in Chillicothe, Ohio, was created as a breakthrough initiative to meet the future needs for health care professionals in our region - from nurses and physicians, to allied health professionals. The primary initial focus is to offer local, quality nursing education in South Central Ohio. The Center offers a pre - licensure Bachelor of Science in Nursing (BSN) degree program through Wright State Miami Valley College of Nursing and Health. Students in the program will be able to complete prerequisite courses at Ohio University - Chillicothe, or another college, and BSN coursework at the Center. In addition, cohorts of Adena Health System Associate Degree Nurses currently are earning their BSN degree via Ohio University with classes being held at the PACCAR Medical Education Center. The Center also provides continuing education and training programs for allied health professionals and physicians, placing Adena on the map as a regional learning center for medical professionals. 3

Pre - requisites: Basic cardiac rhythm course (ECG interpretation) and Professional level of CPR/AED. Description: Through the ACLS course, providers will enhance their skills in the treatment of the adult victim of a cardiac arrest or other cardiopulmonary emergencies. ACLS emphasizes the importance of basic life support CPR to patient survival; the integration of effective, basic life support with advanced cardiovascular life support interventions; and the importance of effective team interaction and communication during resuscitation. ACLS is based on simulated clinical scenarios that encourage active, hands-on participation through learning stations where students will practice essential skills individually, as part of a team, and as a team leader. Realistic simulations reinforce the following key concepts: proficiency in basic life support care; recognizing and initiating early management of peri-arrest conditions; managing cardiac arrest; identifying and treating ischemic chest pain and acute coronary syndromes; recognizing other life-threatening clinical situations (such as stroke) and providing initial care; ACLS algorithms; and effective resuscitation team dynamics.
