RIS SYNCHRONIZATION 1 Patient identity and demographics verification against HIS/RIS records Matching of imaging studies with corresponding orders and results Full patient and study data synchronization with RIS database Changes to patient and order data in the RIS are propagated to PACS Pre-fetch triggers based on order and schedule data Radiology reports are stored in the CARESTREAM PACS database in one report (E-Report) together with the key images and reading statistics; therefore, reports are available independently of the RIS connectivity Merge and split of patient data at study, series, and image level Automatic and manual RIS synchronization DICOM Study Content Notification to RIS AUTOMATIC DATA ROUTING Configurable, "event driven" rules-based automated routing of medical data throughout the enterprise: o To DICOM nodes o To long-term storage devices Pre-defined actions are automatically executed based on specific events (e.g. study arrived backup to the information management solution, execute external script, etc.). Configurable routing rules are filtered by DICOM image header information values or HL-7 data received from RIS Actions/Routing commands may be configured at specific times of the day or after a specified time delay Configurable aliases and user groups allow actions to be executed on groups of users simultaneously Automatically trigger distribution of clinical information (E-Reports) o Automatic e-mail construction and distribution of E-reports, with an optional URL link back to the full study or key images via the CARESTREAM PACS Email Suite o Automatically burn/print self-playing CDs of imaging studies and reports via CARESTREAM PACS CD Direct Suite Configure new events (Generic Probe) into the info router to trigger routing (good for 3 rd party product integrations) Execute customized scripts as a result of events trapped by the info router WORKLIST MANAGEMENT Centralized, enterprise-wide worklist configuration and management, including an endless number of steps (statuses); automatically move data from one status to the next Worklist filters and preferences follow user s login Single virtual interpretation worklist supports global views of all studies throughout the enterprise Worklists can be built based on filtered views of the global database Configurable worklist engine allows customized workflow for each and every site All CARESTREAM PACS Client users work in a synchronized manner users are aware of patient or study data changes provided by RIS (e.g. study patient update), modality (e.g. new image arrival), radiologist (e.g. annotation), or clinician (e.g. Sticky Notes) Locking mechanism prevents studies from simultaneously being modified throughout the enterprise 2

STREAMING Images are loaded in progressive quality over slow lines Enables relatively fast loading time when working remotely over slow lines (internet, ADSL) The user can start reading and processing the images before the entire data set has arrived, with all existing functionalities Interactive image loading is adjusted according to user scrolling Loaded images are visually lossless; can be completed to true lossless with a mouse click No additional hardware is required integral part of the PACS SUPERPACS TM ARCHITECTURE The new SuperPACS Architecture provides a comprehensive solution for multi-site reading In the SuperPACS Architecture workflow grid, there are some additions to the patient matching, synchronization process and streaming behavior For more information and details, please refer to the SuperPACS Architecture sell sheet E-REPORTS E-reports include the following: o Patient demographic data o RIS report data o Key images o PACS exam statistical data produced by the radiologists during the reporting process E-reports are automatically distributed (CDs or E -mails) to clinicians or referring physicians and always available upon request: o Contains a summary of the exam in a single MHTML file o Images are embedded in a single file in JPEG rather than provided as separate attachments in original form o E-report is stored as a structured report attached to the study STICKY NOTES Provides the ability to add textual notes to a study, which are available to all users during the reporting process thus providing paper-less inter-department communication Sticky Notes configurable permissions (create, edit, delete) by PACS administrator at a central location NON-DICOM SUPPORT WFM supports storing of non-dicom objects IHE XDS compliant DOCUMENT AGENT Enables importing of any non-dicom object into the PACS (DOC, PDF, CDA, WMV, AVI and other XDS formats) Imported documents can be merged to an existing patient or a new one PRE/POST-FETCHING AND PUSH TECHNOLOGY Pre-fetch requests to the information management solution to move data from near-line to online based on information provided by HIS/RIS via CARESTREAM PACS IS Link Software Late pre-fetch (post -fetch) requests to the information management solution to immediately move data from near-line to online as soon as the study is stored in Workflow Manager Pre-fetch from foreign archives through DICOM Push technology data is pushed in advance from online storage to the local cache of specific reading stations; pushed studies are then user-selected 3
