Financial Aid and Scholarships Be sure to pick up the booklet Scholarship and Financial Aid Information from the Student Services Office or the Career Resource Center. It is a great resource and place to start in your quest. Never pay for a scholarship search. Scholarship and financial aid is readily available and it is free! There are many scholarships available to minority and disadvantaged students. You just need to do some research. The following is just a brief list of some of them. American Institute of Certified Public Accountants Scholarships (AICPA) www.aicpa.org For undergraduates studying accounting at a U.S. college with at least 30 credits completed. Selection will be based on academic achievement, letters of recommendation, and financial need. The project provides academic tuition assistance up to the cost of the state resident tuition at a local public university, and the funds can be used at any private or public accredited institution to which a Dreamer is admitted. This program assists minority students in the field of geophysics, geology, engineering, information systems, and international business. Renewable scholarships are awarded in addition to paid internships to high school seniors. Intel Science Talent Search www.sciserv.org/sts The award is from $5,000 to $100,000. There are approximately 40 awards in this competition and you must present a scientific research project. NACME Scholarships (National Action Council for Minorities in Engineering) www.nacme.org/scholarships The awards are up to $20,000 and many are awarded. You must be an engineering student. National Alliance for Excellence Scholarships www.excellence.org The student competitors can be high school seniors or all ready in college. Application are submitted that can includes recommendations, art (slides), dance (tapes), photographs, or other materials that point to talent and achievement in all areas. National Association of Black Journalists www.nabj.org The NABJ offers 10 scholarships for $2,500. Students must be attending a four-year university. A grade point of 3.0 is desirable. NSBE Scholarship (National Society of Black Engineers) www.nsbe.org/scholarships This is primarily for engineering students and others majoring in related disciplines. The Ron Brown Scholar Program www.ronbrown.org Academic merit, leadership, and community service required. A renewable award for $10,000.

Awards are based on academic achievement and leadership experience or potential. United Negro College Fund www.uncf.org/scholarships/index.asp The awards are varying amounts and there are a great many under different names and requirements. Xerox Corp. The Multicultural Services Office provides an array of support services which include financial aid application assistance, registration and application assistance, educational and career planning, academic advising, tutorial assistance and other referral services to meet individual needs. Students do not need to have a specific educational problem; the staff wants to get to know students and share information about available services. University of Wisconsin System Campuses in the University of Wisconsin System offer a number of opportunities and services for multicultural and disadvantaged students.
