Supplies: 5g seed beads size 11 4g seed beads size 15 5g cylinder beads (Delica) size 11 Beading thread: Fireline 6lb beading needle size 12 silk cord (3ft) large button Introduction: You will have to add a new thread several times during the project. I suggest taking one wingspan of thread. Once it is worked off, you secure it by weaving through the beads of your beadwork until it is fixed. You add a new thread in the same way. Weave it in until it is secure and then exit from the point wher you continue beading. Step 1: String 2 cylinder beads and one size 11. Repeat the beadcount another 7 times, you have a total of 24 beads on the needle. Let the beads slide to the end of the thread (stop about 5 inch before the end to prevent beads slipping off the thread. Weave another time through the first beads strung to create a circle. Then weave a second time through all beads of the circle to secure the thread. Exit from one size 11.

Step 2: String 3 size 11 and weave again through the size 11 where you exited from. Step 3: String 1 size 15 and weave through the following size 11 added in step 2. Repeat another 3 times, in the end you have each one size 15 between the 4 beads in the corner.

Step 4: Repeat the steps 2 and 3 at every second size 11 of the basic ring (of step 1). We created some kind of little loops at each corner, called corner unit in the following. Weave another time through the beads of the basic ring but this time you will skip the size 11 in the 4 corners (see drawing). Exit from a size 11 between 2 corners (see drawing and picture). Step 5: String 3 size 15 and weave through the size 11 in the middle between the next two corners. Repeat another 3 times. Then weave another time through the beads added in this step, this time you skip the size 11. The diamond shape in the center gets a better tension and looks more neat this way.

Step 6: Weave along the beads (pointed line in the drawing) until you exit from a size 11 at the corner unit. Starting from this size 11 you string 2 cylinder beads, one size 11, and two cylinder beads and weave through the size 11 of the next corner unit. This is the first edge of your new square. String 2 cylinder beads, 1 size 11, repeat another 4 times and string finally 2 more cylinder beads. Then weave again through the size 11 where you started this step. Step 7: Make a loop (corner unit) at the two new corners like shown in steps 2 and 3.

Step 8: Weave another time through the beads of the basic square and skip the size 11 ihn the corners (like shown in step 4). After that fill the center with the diamond shape like shown in step 5. Step 9: Repeat the steps 6 to 8 to create a third square in the row.

Step 10: Starting from the edge of the first row of 3 squares, make another basic square (see drawing). Step 11: Make a corner unit on each of the two new corners like shown in steps 2 and 3, after that fill the center like shown in steps 4 and 5.

Step 12: The next basic square is connected to 3 corner units of the previous squares. Step 13: Make a corner unit on the new corner and fill the center after that.

Step 14: The last square in the row is made like the previous one. Now you repeat the steps 10 to 14 until the bracelet has the desired length. Step 15: To enhance the lace character of the bracelet, I wove a double layer silk cord through the center row (see picture). On the one end you have the loop, on the other end you string the button on the open ends. Fix the button with a knot and make a bow knot. The loop at the other end should be just as long as necessarsy to fit around the button.

Some words in the end: This is a free pattern and I hope you enjoy it. You may sell pieces you made after this pattern, as long as it is no commercial mass production. You may teach it, but please use the original instructions. Happy Beading! Sabine Lippert
