Student submits Thesis Project Signature Sheet to the Graduate Business Programs before the last day to add a class for the term in question 5. Upon receipt of the completed Thesis Project Signature Sheet and above criteria being met, the student s request for enrollment will be researched and fulfilled within three business days 6. Graduate Business Master s Thesis Instructions 1. Secure a tenured faculty member in the discipline of your choice who agrees to serve as your Master s Thesis Faculty Advisor for the specified academic term 2. Prepare and present a written proposal for the Faculty Advisor. Proposal must include a thesis outline, reading lists, and a schedule of meetings between Faculty Advisor and Student. 3. Obtain the Faculty Advisor s signature on the Thesis Project Signature Sheet 4. Obtain the Faculty Advisor s Academic Department Chair s signature on the Thesis Project Signature Sheet 5. Submit the signed and completed Thesis Project Signature Sheet to the Graduate Business Programs Office to be enrolled in IDIS 699, the Master s Thesis course a. Submitting a signed and completed Thesis Project Signature Sheets on or after the tuition due date for the requested term of enrollment? You re required to prepay for the course in advance b. Withdrawing from the course? Procedures for withdrawal from IDIS 699 are the same as for regularly scheduled classes and students are responsible for knowing all refund and drop dates. Consult the Academic Bulletin s Financial Information section for refund schedule. 6. Complete the thesis 7. Download and complete Thesis Submission Form at http://www.scu.edu/library/info/policies/upload/thesisform.pdf 8. Order a minimum of THREE bound copies of the thesis: two for the University (as indicated on the form) and one for the Graduate Business Programs (as indicated by the Program Office line on the form). Student copies of the bound thesis are optional and ordered and bound at the cost of the student by use of the Thesis Submission Form. 9. Submit the completed Thesis Submission Form to the Bursar s Office (first floor of Walsh Administration Building), pay the total fees listed on the form, and retain receipt of payment 10. Download and complete the Thesis Publication Form at http://www.scu.edu/library/info/policies/upload/thesispubform2010.pdf a. You do NOT need to obtain the signature of the Dean on this form (staff obtains it) 11. Format your thesis. a. To ensure readability when bound, adjust left margins to no less than 1.5 inches b. Create a title page (see example attached to Thesis Project Signature Sheet) c. Create an abstract of 350 words or less 12. Print your thesis a. The deposited copies (three) must be printed or copied single sided onto 20 pound or heavier acid-free paper that is white in color b. We suggest that personal copies, or non-deposited copies, be printed on the same paper as deposited copies: lighter paper does not survive binding and handling too well 13. Obtain faculty signatures on all copies of title pages 14. Prepare electronic submission content, if applicable (see http://bit.ly/sk6bcl) 15. Deliver to the Graduate Business Programs the following: a. Completed Thesis Submission Form b. Receipt from the Bursar s Office (see Step 9) c. e. Completed Thesis Publication Form Graduate Business Master s Thesis Instructions 16. Within ten business days of delivery to Graduate Business a. The Graduate Business Programs inspects the thesis project b. Thesis project is sent to the University Library c. Student is notified via e-mail of the project s acceptance and delivery d. The Graduate Business Programs contacts the Faculty Advisor for the grade earned by the student in the thesis project and submits grade to the Office of the Registrar for posting 17. When the University Library receives all items in Step 15, the process of having the copies bound will be initiated, and will take eight to 13 weeks 18. When the binding process is complete and the University Library receives the bound thesis copies, the archival and circulating copies are deposited with the University Library and the third requested copy is distributed to the Graduate Program Office, per the Thesis Submission Form 19. The University Library will notify the student that their ordered bound theses copies are ready to be retrieved from the University Library by the student, or that the bound student theses copies will be shipped to the address provided on the Thesis Submission Form.
