MRS Absolute security minimum System Requirements Operating Systems: Microsoft Windows XP, Windows Vista or Windows 7 RAM: 2GB Hard Drive: 1 primary partition for O/S and applications. (C:) 1 primary partition for Data Free unallocated space. (Same partition size of O/S C: + size for your security data partition) For example: Your O/S C: partition C: was 100G, you need 50G for you security data. You will need 150G free unallocated space. If your system does not has a Data partition. Better be safe than sorry. Backup your system and copy your data to an external drive before proceeding. Check for Virus, malware, and disk drive defragmentation. Clear all temp files and cookies. When it s safe to proceed. Clean up your system; delete all working files and personal data. After shrinking your C: bootable partition. Created Data partition, free unallocated space and copy all you working files and personal data back to the Data partition. Now you can install Absolute security utility. Activate and protect you C: drive.
Shrink a Volume (Windows Vista and Windows 7only) Put mouse cursor on My computer, right click mouse. Open menu, select Manage, click to open. Or 1. Open the Control Panel (All Item s view), and click on the Administrative Tools icon. Then close the Control Panel window. 2. Click on Computer Management in Administrative Tools, and then close the Administrative Tools window. Under Storage, click on Disk Management. (See screenshot below) 3. Right click on the partition that you want to shrink and click on Shrink Volume. (See screenshot above) 4. Type in how many MB (1 GB = 1024 MB) of the available shrink space shown that you want to shrink the partition volume. Volume size to be used for the new data partition and free unallocated space, then click on the Shrink button. Total size after shrink in MB will be the partition size for your boot partition (C:). (See screenshot below)
The selected partition (step 4) has now been shrunk to create a new empty unallocated space. You can use this new unallocated space to create a new partition for you Data partition. (See screenshot below) 6. Close the Computer Management window. (See screenshot above)
NOTE: The size of the available shrink space can be restricted by the amount of space currently allocated to on the hard drive for the virtual memory page file, System Protection maximum storage space size, and hibernation files. The location of the files on the hard drive plays a big part here because these files are marked as unmovable, and Disk Management is unable to relocate them. As such, if these unmovable files are located in the middle of the total amount of free space on the disk, then only the amount of free space on the other side (to the right) of these files will actually be available for the new partition. This will result in you showing that you have x amount of free space, but not being able to use it for your partition. The only way around this is to use a 3rd party hard drive partition management program such as EASUES Partition Master, or setup the partition when installing the Operating System.
Using EASUES Partition Master Do Internet search and down load EASUES Partition Master. Or any third party partition resize utility. 1. Launch EASEUS Partition Master and you will see a main board. 2. Right click the partition and select Resize/Move.
3. A popped up dialog box indicates the current size of the selected partition. The box also depicts the used and unused space on the partition and the free space surrounding the partition (if any exists); the minimum and maximum sizes that you can resize a partition; cluster size of the partition. 4. Position the mouse pointer on the right partition handle. Drag the handle to the partition size you want when the mouse pointer changes to a double headed arrow and click OK
5. Click Apply. Under Disk Management, now you check all partitions. You can use this new unallocated space to create a new partition for you Data partition.
