The Jones Family First Generation 1. Thomas 1 Jones was born in Caversham, Oxfordshire, England about 1598. Thomas settled in Hingham, Plymouth, Massachusetts in 1638. He sailed from Southampton, England April 24, 1638 on the Confidence. Thomas died before March 9, 1680/81 in Manchester, Essex, Massachusetts, at approximately 82 years of age. He married twice. He married Ann. Ann was born in England about 1600. Ann died before 1657 in Hingham, Plymouth, Massachusetts. He married Abigail Elithrop in Boston, Suffolk, Massachusetts, June 25, 1657. Thomas Jones and Ann had the following children: 2 i. John 2 Jones was born in England between 1632/38. John died after 1681. 3 ii. Sarah Jones was born in England about 1635. Sarah died December 16. 1710 in Boston, Suffolk, Massachusetts, at 75 years of age. She married Henry Chamberlain about 1651. Henry was the son of Henry Chamberlain and Jane. 4 iii. Hannah Jones was born in England between 1636/38. Hannah died February 4, 1724/25 in Gloucester, Cape Ann, Essex, Massachusetts, at 87 years of age. She married Richard Goodwin November 20, 1666. Richard was born 1640. Richard was the son of Richard Goodwin. Richard died March 5, 1708/09 at 68 years of age. *5 iv. Abraham Jones was born about 1638. 6 v. Thomas Jones was born in Hingham, Plymouth, Massachusetts. He was christened in Hingham, Plymouth, Massachusetts, March 29, 1640. He married Elizabeth Pitts in Hingham, Plymouth, Massachusetts, December 29, 1673. Elizabeth was born in Hingham, Plymouth, Massachusetts April 23, 1648. Sarah Jones was born in Hull, Plymouth, Massachusetts. She married Mordecai Lincoln about 1685. Mordecai was born in Hingham, Plymouth, Massachusetts June 14, 1657. Mordecai died November 28, 1727 in Scituate, Plymouth, Massachusetts, at 70 years of age. Mordecai and Sarah were the great, great, great grandparents of President Abraham Lincoln. They were responsible for introducing the name Abraham into the Lincoln line. 12 iv. Joseph Jones was born in Hull, Plymouth, Massachusetts about 1667. Joseph died after December 18, 1740 in Raynham, Massachusetts, at approximately 73 years of age. He married twice. He married Lydia Neale in Braintree, Massachusetts, July 24, 1695. Lydia was born December 8, 1672. Lydia died before 1720. He married Mary Vickery in Hull, Plymouth, Massachusetts, October 20, 1720. 13 v. Benjamin Jones was born in Hull, Plymouth, Massachusetts about 1668. He married Elizabeth about 1694. Elizabeth was born about 1668. Elizabeth died September 13, 1748 in Hull, Plymouth, Massachusetts, at 80 years of age. *14 vi. John Jones was born about 1669/1670. 15 vii. Ephraim Jones was born in Hull, Plymouth, Massachusetts before 1672. Ephraim died January 27, 1757 in Braintree, Massachusetts, at 85 years of age. He married Mary Speer January 13, 1708. Third Generation 14. John 3 Jones (Abraham 2, Thomas 1 ) was born in Hull, Plymouth, Massachusetts about 1669/1670. He married twice. He married Sara Lobdell about 1693. Sara was born 1668. Sara was the daughter of John Lobdell and (Unknown) Bosworth. Sara died March 3, 1750 in Mendon, Worcester, Massachusetts, at 81 years of age. He married Mrs. Mary Potbery in Hollister, Massachusetts, September 11, 1751. Mary was born 1680. Mary died June 13, 1756 in Hollister, Massachusetts, at 75 years of age. John Jones and Sara Lobdell had the following children: 16 i. Sarah 4 Jones was born in Hull, Plymouth, Massachusetts October 20, 1694. She married twice. She married Daniel Corbett in Mendon, Worcester, Massachusetts, December 4, 1717. Daniel died 1753. She married John Sawin October 9, 1755.

She married James Wood in Mendon, Worcester, Massachusetts, May 17, 1716. 18 iii. Mercy Jones was born in Hull, Plymouth, Massachusetts September 3, 1697. Mercy died after May, 1769. She married John Twing in Boston, Suffolk, Massachusetts, June, 1718. John was the son of John Twing and Martha Drew. 19 iv. John Jones, Jr. was born in Hull, Plymouth, Massachusetts September 27, 1699. He married Abigail Holbrook July 1, 1723. Abigail was born August 19, 1697. Abigail was the daughter of John Holbrook and Mehitabel. 20 v. Nathaniel Jones was born in Hull, Plymouth, Massachusetts March 31, 1702. Nathaniel died March 4, 1783 in Milford, Worcester, Massachusetts, at 80 years of age. He married twice. He married Priscella Corbett about 1722. He married Elizabeth Gage January 4, 1748. 21 vi. Lydia Jones was born in Mendon, Worcester, Massachusetts September 17, 1705. Lydia died March 4, 1783 at 77 years of age. She married Jonathan Whitney January 26, 1726/27. Jonathan was born October 17, 1704. Jonathan was the son of Jonathan Whitney. Jonathan died 1755 at 50 years of age. 22 vii. Abraham Jones was born in Mendon, Worcester, Massachusetts July 2, 1708. He married Keziah Whitney about 1730. Keziah was born July 31, 1706. Keziah was the daughter of Jonathan Whitney. Joseph 4 Jones (John 3, Abraham 2, Thomas 1 ) was born in Mendon, Worcester, Massachusetts December 27, 1709. Joseph died April 3, 1796 in Milford, Worcester, Massachusetts, at 86 years of age. He married Mary Whitney in Mendon, Worcester, Massachusetts, about 1732. Mary was born in Holliston, Middlesex, Massachusetts May 28, 1710. Mary was the daughter of Jonathan Whitney and Susannah. Mary died July 9, 1788 in Milford, Worcester, Massachusetts, at 78 years of age. Joseph Jones and Mary Whitney had the following children: 24 i. Susannah 5 Jones was born in Mendon, Worcester, Massachusetts November 10, 1733. Susannah died April 29, 1795 in Milford, Worcester, Massachusetts, at 61 years of age. She married John Robinson in Mendon, Worcester, Massachusetts, March 11, 1773. John was born April 12, 1750. John was the son of Ichabod Robinson and Ruth Merriam. John died November 19, 1792 at 42 years of age. 25 ii. Hannah Jones was born in Mendon, Worcester, Massachusetts July 3, 1736. Hannah died July 27, 1736 in Mendon, Worcester, Massachusetts, at less than one year of age.

James was the son of Jeseph Sumner and Sarah. James died August 29, 1795 at 76 years of age. 28 v. Lydia Jones was born in Mendon, Worcester, Massachusetts April 2, 1744. Lydia died January 24, 1745 in Mendon, Worcester, Massachusetts, at less than one year of age. 29 vi. Jonathan Jones was born in Mendon, Worcester, Massachusetts April 11, 1746. Jonathan died July 30, 1814 in Shrewsbury, Worcester, Massachusetts, at 68 years of age. He married Mary Ball in Milford, Worcester, Massachusetts, March 7, 1767. Mary was born March 2, 1749. Joseph 5 Jones, Jr. (Joseph 4, John 3, Abraham 2, Thomas 1 ) was born in Mendon, Worcester, Massachusetts September 29, 1737. Joseph died August 22, 1799 in Charleston, Charleston, South Carolina, at 61 years of age. His body was interred in Charleston, Charleston, South Carolina, St. Philip s Church Yard. He married Ruth Nelson in Milford, Worcester, Massachusetts, December 28, 1763. Ruth was born in Milford, Worcester, Massachusetts November 10, 1743. Ruth was the daughter of Nehemiah Nelson and Hannah Sheffield. She was christened in Milford, Worcester, Massachusetts, April 24, 1748. Ruth died August 16, 1825 in Providence, Providence, Rhode Island, at 81 years of age. Joseph Jones, Jr. and Ruth Nelson had the following children: *32 i. He married Olive Sumner Chapin October, 1833. 34 iii. Nathaniel Jones was born in Milford, Worcester, Massachusetts March 22, 1769. Nathaniel died May 22, 1808 in Charleston, Charleston, South Carolina, at 39 years of age. He married Jane Field.

Joseph died July 14, 1791 in Milford, Worcester, Massachusetts, at 18 years of age. 37 vi. Hannah Jones was born in Milford, Worcester, Massachusetts June 28, 1775. She married William Dabney in Milford, Worcester, Massachusetts, August 24, 1797. 38 vii. Lucinda Jones was born in Milford, Worcester, Massachusetts August 26, 1778. Lucinda died January 12, 1852 in Charleston, Charleston, South Carolina, at 73 years of age. She married John King in Milford, Worcester, Massachusetts, September 21, 1800. 39 viii. Betsey Jones was born in Milford, Worcester, Massachusetts November 1, 1780. Betsey died November 13, 1800 in Milford, Worcester, Massachusetts, at 20 years of age. 40 ix. Nancy Jones was born in Milford, Worcester, Massachusetts March 9, 1783. Nancy died July 25, 1845 in Providence, Providence, Rhode Island, at 62 years of age. She married Elijah King in Milford, Worcester, Massachusetts, May 23, 1802. 41 x. Noah Jones was born in Milford, Worcester, Massachusetts November 21, 1785. Noah died December 14, 1813 at 28 years of age. 42 xi. Wiswall Jones was born in Milford, Worcester, Massachusetts October 22, 1788. Wiswall died August 8, 1842 at 53 years of age. He married Martha W. Price in Savana, La Mar Island, Jamaica, April 19, 1817. 43 xii. Leonard Jones was born in Milford, Worcester, Massachusetts March 10, 1791. Leonard died March 10, 1791 in Milford, Worcester, Massachusetts, at less than one year of age. Sixth Generation 32. Alexander 6 Jones (Joseph 5, Joseph 4, John 3, Abraham 2, Thomas 1 ) was born in Milford, Worcester, Massachusetts August 8, 1764. Alexander died March 19, 1840 in Providence, Providence, Rhode Island, at 75 years of age. He married Mary Farquhar in Charleston, Charleston, South Carolina, January 28, 1790. Mary was born in Milledgeville, Baldwin, Georgia December 24, 1773. Mary was the daughter of George Farquhar and Elizabeth Sherwood. Mary died September 5, 1835 in Providence, Providence, Rhode Island, at 61 years of age. Alexander Jones and Mary Farquhar had the following children: 44 i. Harriet Farrquhar 7 Jones was born in Charleston, Charleston, South Carolina January 3, 1791. Harriet died October 14, 1823 in Providence, Providence, Rhode Island, at 32 years of age. She married John Barnet Chace November 3, 1811.

Mary died April 14, 1879 in Fall River, Massachusetts, at 84 years of age. She married Cyrus Alden, Esq. May 24, 1813. 47 iv. Alexander Jones, Jr. was born in Charleston, Charleston, South Carolina November 8, 1796. Alexander died February 15, 1874 in Perth Amboy, New Jersey, at 77 years of age. Jane Sherwood Jones was born in Charleston, Charleston, South Carolina November 26, 1803. Jane died February 1, 1854 in Flushing, New York, at 50 years of age. She married Doctor William W. Yalk July 16, 1829. 51 viii. Frances Nelson Jones was born in Providence, Providence, Rhode Island January 7, 1806. Frances died July 19, 1848 in Geneva, New York, at 42 years of age. She married Theodore Peacock Bogert in Providence, Providence, Rhode Island, April 15, 1828. Theodore was born February 17, 1804. Theodore was the son of James Bogert, Jr and Elizabeth Benezet.
