Notice of the survey is sent from the Office of the Registrar. The purpose of the survey is to comply with federal regulations enacted in the Higher Education Opportunity Act (2008). Its benefits include providing protection for students from identity theft and assisting local and University officials in responding to student health and safety emergencies. REGISTRATION Course schedules and registration information for the spring 2015 term are now available. Registration: log into the portal http://portal.lehigh.edu Click the GRAD CBE tab View Semester News Channel Spring 2015 Course Schedule The spring 2015 course schedule is in Excel format and contains college courses available in all CBE graduate programs. Column A-Course #. Students can view the course description by placing the cursor over the course number in column A. Column B-CRN. Column B contains CRN numbers (course registration numbers) unique to each course and section, which will be used to register course work in Banner. Column C-Course Title. Column D-CR. Course credit hours. Column E-Instructor. The Instructor s column contains email links to professors so that students may easily contact them for further information. Column F-Restrictions The Restrictions column indicates which students are eligible to take certain courses. For instance, courses marked MSAI Students Only are available only to M.S. in Accounting and Information Analysis students; other students must obtain department permission. Elective courses marked in the Restrictions column as 'CBE Graduate Students' are open to any graduate student in the college, including MBAs, provided the student meets prerequisites for the course. If an elective is marked as 'MBA Students only', students in this course are required to have a minimum of two years post-baccalaureate, professional work experience. Column G-Concentration. The Concentration indicates electives that are approved for specific MBA concentrations. MBA students do not need to be declared in a concentration in order to take a course in the discipline. Column H-Prereq. Course prerequisites are listed. Column I-Day/Time Column J-Location. The Location column indicates if courses are available on campus or through distance education. Distance education courses are available in two modes: ClassroomLive and Classroom Online. 4

ClassroomLive is an integrated, web-based virtual environment that delivers programs in real time from classrooms on Lehigh's campus to students, in their homes, at their workplaces, or while traveling. On campus students may access the Classroom Live section on a limited basis in accordance with the Distance Education policy posted in the semester news channel of the portal. Classroom Online streams video of courses produced in Windows Media or RealMedia formats and made available for viewing on the web. Video can be viewed at any time while connected to the internet, providing a high degree of flexibility for the student. Professors interact with students using email, discussion boards, web-conference (Blackboard Collaborate (BC)) or telephone. BC is a web conferencing tool that allows real time collaboration between faculty and fellow students. Times listed are Eastern (New York) time. Recipients of University tuition remission awards, such as Teaching Assistant (TA), Graduate Assistant (GA), Research Assistant (RA), Presidential Scholar, University employee or other), must see the notice on page 8 of this document regarding charges for Classroom Online and Classroom Live courses. Registration is completed online through the university s enterprise-wide system, Banner. A $100.00 late course registration fee will be charged to all continuing FULL-TIME GRADUATE students who have not started the spring 2015 registration process by JANUARY 1, 2015. FULL TIME STATUS A full-time graduate student must ordinarily register for a minimum of nine credits each semester. Fulltime students may not be employed full-time. Identification as a full-time student is important for three purposes: (1) eligibility for financial aid, (2) compliance with visa requirements for international students, and (3) for university and national graduate enrollment data. International students may carry less than nine credits in these two circumstances: 1. The first term of on campus course work in which the international student is enrolled in English as a Second Language (ESL) course work. 2. The last term of study prior to degree completion In these cases, the Graduate Programs Office will certify full time status to the Registrar and to the Office of International Students and Scholars. Full time certification may be granted in other circumstances. Please see the CBE Graduate Student Handbook for details. 6

Full-time certification form location: 1. Log into the portal http:/portal.lehigh.edu/ 2. Click the GRAD CBE tab 3. Form Located in Important Documents Channel Completed forms must be signed by the student s program director and submitted to the college s graduate associate dean for authorization. REGISTRATION LIMITS Graduate students may register for a MAXIMUM of 10 credit hours without intervention from the Graduate Programs Office. Increases may be granted for a maximum of 15 credit hours per term based on the student s employment status with the University and their advisor s approval. Students with no University employment may register for a maximum of 15 credit hours per term. Students with University employment (RA) of no more than 5 hours per week may register for a maximum of 15 credit hours per term. Students with University employment (GA, TA) of no more than 13.5 hours per week may register for a maximum of 12 credit hours per term. Students with University employment of 20 hours per week (GA, TA) may register for a maximum of 10 credit hours per term. Submit requests for an increase in the number of credit hours at the following link: https://lehigh.co1.qualtrics.com/se/?sid=sv_dooel3dpbxllw8z You will need to provide your full name, LIN, program of study and the reason you are requesting an increase. CLASSROOM LIVE ACCESS AND ATTENDANCE Students registered for a CBE course that has a corresponding Classroom LIVE section can choose to attend any class meeting either on-campus or using Classroom LIVE without prior notice to the Office of Distance Education, subject to the policies of the individual instructor. All MBA students who have not taken a course using Classroom LIVE will need to attend an online training session prior to the start of the semester. It is strongly recommended that a student register for the D Classroom LIVE section if the student anticipates that he/she will attend 50% or more of the course using Classroom LIVE. Please review the full policy located in the Lehigh portal: http://portal.lehigh.edu under the Grad CBE tab in the Semester News Channel. 7

COURSE CANCELLATIONS Lehigh reserves the right to cancel any course if the enrollment is ten (10) or fewer students. Please register as early as possible to reduce the risk that a class you want to take will be canceled VENTURE SERIES COURSEWORK The course schedule for spring 2015 lists 2 different sets of dates for each Venture course; course run dates and course meeting dates. Students must be registered for a Venture Series course prior to the course run date. Dropped courses must be processed before 4:30 p.m. on the 5 th day of class to be eligible for full refund. Students may add courses from the sixth to the tenth day of class with instructor permission by using the paper add/drop form. A declining refund scale is in effect for students who drop courses AFTER DAY FIVE. Instructor permission is not necessary to drop the course from days 6 through 10, but the advisor's signature is required. Students must use the paper add/drop form during this period and submit it to the Graduate Programs Office upon obtaining the requisite signatures. It is the student s responsibility to check with the Bursar s Office for the amount of refund to be returned on the date of the dropped course. The instructor s signature is required on the paper add/drop form for courses dropped after the tenth day. 10

Partial Semester Courses Courses that do not run traditional semester lengths are granted full refunds only if dropped prior to the first day of class. The paper drop form must be completed and submitted to the Graduate Programs Office. Please contact the Bursar s office at 610-758-3162 for refund rates if the course has already started and indicate enrollment in a partial semester course. Courses in which the student is enrolled will appear in Course Site the week before classes begin. Content for online courses is available in Course Site. Some online courses may require the use of Elluminate, an interactive tool that enables live faculty-student interaction. An Elluminate tutorial is available in the GRAD CBE Tab, Technology Channel. This tab also contains a link for hardware and software requirements for participation in online courses. COURSE MATERIALS Once registered, students may find the books and materials needed for a course by clicking the Portal Tab COURSES, and then clicking the link Click here to see your Textbooks. There is no obligation to purchase using this link. You may also access the Lehigh bookstore directly at http://www.lehigh.edu/bookstore CAREER SERVICES Please take advantage of the opportunities offered through Career Services.
