Anonymous Since antiquity, pearls have been highly sought after and treasured for their understated beauty and elegance. Created by entirely natural processes, pearls of the very highest quality were once exceedingly rare. It was our founder, Kokichi Mikimoto, who, in the closing years of the 19th century, developed the unique cultivation process that is now used worldwide to create almost all pearls sold today. Mikimoto White South Sea Cultured Pearl Ring In order to do justice to his beautiful new creations, Mr Mikimoto despatched his craftsman to learn from the greatest jewellery designers across the world. The skills they learned were matched to traditional Japanese strengths of workmanship and design purity to create the first bespoke Mikimoto jewellery collection in 1899. Today, Mikimoto still a family-run business is the undisputed world leader, selling only the highest-quality cultured pearls. The Japanese Akoya Cultured Pearls are, even now, grown in the farms seeded by Mr Mikimoto in Ago Bay, Japan more than a century ago. Just five percent of those pearls possess the shape, lustre, colour and surface perfection needed to be included in our collections. Which is why our pieces are in demand the world over; their owners safe in the knowledge that there really is no finer pearl than a Mikimoto pearl.

Akoya Strand T he Japanese Akoya Cultured Pearl is known for its high lustre and rich hues. Suitable for most skin tones with their silvery pink colour, they are a perfect introduction to pearl jewellery. Classic strands can be purchased in various lengths and sizes with different grades of pearls.

Black South Sea Strand M ikimoto only selects the highest quality Black South Sea Cultured Pearls. Colours can range from pale silver to midnight black. The most desirable is the peacock green a perfect balance of green and aubergine tones. The strand length and style of clasp can be changed to suit all customer requirements. A selection of earrings and rings are available to match Mikimoto strands.

This exclusive design is young and feminine with interchangeable clasps that allow the 23.5-inch necklace to become a shorter 16.5-inch necklace and matching 7-inch bracelet. The rosy tones of the different sized Akoya Cultured Pearls are complemented by an 18k Pink Gold chain. These delicate A+ quality pearls range in size from 4.5mm to 6.5mm. Two free-flowing curvaceous clasps of 18k Pink Gold and 0.36cts of sparkling Diamonds are deliberately positioned to allow greater options for the wearer. Presented in an elegant Mikimoto case, this Debutante Set is a perfect gift that can be worn for all occasions.
