ISBN # 0-9691275-0-2) John Walter, who brought the Church of England to Walter s Falls, was the first interment in the cemetery in 1867. The land was donated by his widow, Elizabeth Payne, for the cemetery & church. Until that time the services had been held in their home or the local Methodist Church. St Phillip s was the first local country cemetery to be upgraded and landscaped and placed under a perpetual care fund in the late 1930 s. It stands as a lasting memorial to the pioneers.
