Supplies: Blank business card paper* (order from a printer, or cut card stock to size, using a paper cutter) Business card stamps (stamp art provided) (search custom rubber stamps for companies who can make stamps from this art). OR as a troop level activity, see tips on page 2 for alternate instructions that do not require custom stamps) Markers (various colors - to color in stamped designs) Pens (to write their names on their cards) Scissors Origami Business Card Template* (template provided). (These cases can also be folded from a square of scrap book paper.) * NOTE: Be sure to match your business card blanks to your Origami Business Card Case print method. If you want to use standard size business card blanks, print the Origami case on 9 x 11-1/2 paper - per instructions on back of Origami case template. If you wish to print the Origami case on standard 8-1/2 x 11 paper, you will want to use a reduced size business card blank (3-1/2 x 1-3/4 ) (Business card templates included in this activity are designed to this smaller size) Instructions:. 1. Set up the station: Place the origami case print outs at the first station, and the business card blanks, stamps, markers, pens and scissors at the second station. 2. Talk to the girls about how business professionals use business cards as a tool to build relationships and promote their products. Explain that as the of their own business, they will have the opportunity to make their own business cards, along with a case to hold them in. 3. Invite girls to follow the instructions provided to fold their origami paper into a business card case. Consider sharing this fun fact: Origami is a Japanese word for folding (ori) and paper (kami) 4. Distribute one page of business cards to each girl. Invite her to cut them apart, and write her first name on the line. If using blank cards, provide stamps and/or markers for girls to decorate cards. Girls can use stamps to customize their unique business card designs. They can add color by using markers to color in the stamped images. Images of Stamp Art are pictured below. The designs below are provided as jpgs in the Rally Activities folder. (Look for jpg files starting with Stamp... ). This art can be sent to a stamp company to produce stamps that girls can use to create their business cards. * TIP: If your group size is too small to justify having custom stamps made, you can use scrap booking stamps that you may have on hand or might purchase from a craft store. OR, invite girls to draw their own decorations. OR use the business card template (provided with this activity) that already includes cute pre-printed designs, and focus on having girls make the origami card case to use in carrying their cards. Step 4 Fold each corner inward so that the corner points meet the nearest crease. Step 6 Fold in the left and right flaps to meet in the center. Step 8 Fold the bottom up the same way, tucking inside the other flap. They should overlap slightly. Origami Business Card Case Print Instructions To Fit A Standard Business Card: Print full size at 9" x 11.5" at a professional printer. For ease of use, you can ask the printer to print with a perforated line to the left of the instructions. To Print on Letter Size Paper: Select 8.5" x 11" paper and in your print settings select Fit to Page or Shrink to Fit (depending on your printer). You will need to adjust the size of the business card to 1.75" x 3.5"
