Online Fundraising Guide Thank you for registering for The Leukemia & Lymphoma Society (LLS) Light The Night Walk. You are now on your way to creating a world without cancer! In 2012, 79% of the funds raised by Illinois Light The Night participants came in through online donations. This guide will help you navigate your online fundraising page a tool to help you send emails, post to social media, recruit team members and raise money. It takes you step-by-step and will help you personalize your fundraising page to get the maximum use out of the tools available. Please contact your Light The Night staff if you have any questions. You can log in to your fundraising page by clicking on the link in the email you received from LLS when you registered for Light The Night. That email also contains your username and password. Click here to access your fundraising page. Once you ve entered your information, click sign in. If you don t know your username and password, please click on the forgot password link or contact the Light The Night team. 3

You are currently on the Fundraising Tab You are currently on the Donations Tab Click here to export the list to Excel Once you ve logged in, you ll be taken to your participant center. It will show you: Your fundraising progress on the left of the screen for both your individual and team fundraising. Links on the left of the screen to view your individual and team fundraising pages. A list of your donors including the date and the amount of the donations. A link on the bottom right of the page which allows you to export the list of donations to Excel. This is a great tool for thank you notes as it includes the donors addresses. Tabs at the top. We ll look at these more closely on the following pages. Please note the tab at the top left shows that you are in the Fundraising tab. We ll look at the My Account tab on page 13. 4

You can change this to send an invitation to your team or a thank you email. Your email address here Enter email addresses here You are now back on the Fundraising Tab and on the Email Tab. This section can be used to email friends, family and coworkers about Light The Night Walk. There are pre-drafted emails already for your use, which include a link to your fundraising page. We encourage you to change the text and write a personal message sharing why you are fundraising in Light The Night. You can enter email addresses at the top in the box as indicated, separating the addresses with commas. Click on the icon next to the To field to pull up any email addresses you ve entered previously. You can also send invitations to your team and thank you emails from this page by changing the message type from donation request. Other options include team invitation and thank-you note. The text will automatically change in the email. You can alter the text as you wish or send it as is. Clicking on the sent email button will show you any messages you ve sent through this page. 5

Still on the Fundraising & Email Center Tabs Still on the Fundraising and Email Center tabs, you ve now clicked on the Preferences button. When you receive a donation on your individual or team fundraising page, you are automatically sent an email to notify you of that donation. We also send you and auto-email when you reach your goal. If you do NOT want to receive these emails, please uncheck the corresponding boxes and click Save. 6

Manually enter your contacts here. We are still on the Fundraising Tab and Email Center, but have moved to the Manage Address Book. You can import email address from your email account by clicking on the drop down menu beside Import Address Book. Select your email account type, enter your login information and click Import. All of your email contacts will be imported. You can now use this address book to send emails from the Email Center. You can also manually enter email addresses at the top of the page using the text boxes and the add button. 7

Still on the Fundraising Tab, we are now in the Fundraising Toolbox Tab. This page includes several downloads of fundraising ideas. Click on one and a document will open. We include links throughout to give you more information about raising money online, using social networking sites and ways to interact with other participants. This page is a great resource to help you meet your fundraising goal. Download any of these great fundraising tools. 8

We are now on the Personalize Pages Tab, still under the Fundraising Tab. Use this page to edit your personal fundraising page. If you are the team captain, you also have the ability to change your team s fundraising page. Personalizing your fundraising page is an incredibly effective way to increase the amount you raise. Include pictures, a personal story about why you fundraise and facts about the mission of LLS. You can add new posts (much like a blog) and manage your posts on this page. To edit your page and make it personal, please click on the Edit link. We ll look at this in detail on the next page. 9

Add a photo here Click here to view changes you ve made Always Save We re still on the Personalize Pages Tab, but clicked Edit to get to this screen. There is text already in the text box that automatically appears on your fundraising page. This text contains helpful information about LLS and Light The Night. You can add a personal note to your page by typing in text at the top of the box. If you wish to leave this as it is, you can start a new post by clicking on the drop down menu at the top left where it says Editing Post. The menu to the right will appear. You can create a new post, manage an old post or manage comments people have made on your posts. We ll look at the Options on the next page. You can add pictures to your post by clicking on the camera icon on the top right. Please note you can also change the titles of your posts in the top section as well. Be sure to save any changes you make by clicking the save button. If you aren t ready to post your edits yet, you can save as a draft and come back to finish your post at a later time. To view the changes you ve made, save and click View Page. 10

We re still on the Personalize Pages Tab, but clicked Options on the Editing Post menu to get to this screen. This page gives you the ability to change how you would like information on your fundraising page to appear. In the first box, you have the ability to choose any or all of: if your goal appears, if the names of your donors appear (they can choose to hide their name when they make a donation), if the donation amounts appear, if donors can comment on your posts, and if you receive an email when someone comments on your post. The second box allows you to change the donation levels. No matter which level you choose, donors will have the ability to enter an amount that is not listed as an option by typing in the amount they wish to donate. When you have made changes to this page, click save at the bottom to complete your changes. 11

We have left the Personalize Pages Tab and are now on the final tab under the Fundraising Tab, the Team Tab. This page allows you to view the other members on your team. You can see how much money they have raised. You can also click on their names to see their personalized fundraising pages. If you see that a team member is close or surpassed their goal, send them an encouraging note! 12

We have been working on the Fundraising Tab. We will now take a look at the My Account tab. You can change your contact information in the text boxes and then click Save Changes to make the changes. You can also change your username and password. When you click on the Change Username/Password button, this box opens up. Enter your new username/password and click save to activate the changes. 13

As a team captain, you have additional resources available on your e-tools site. We will go through these resources step-by-step. We are back on the Email Center Tab. You have the added ability to send an email to your team members. This is a drop-down option in the Message Type menu, Team Captain Msg. When you choose this type of message, your team s email addresses will automatically populate in the To box. There is no sample message created for you, but this is a great tool to update your team members on your team s progress and any upcoming events or challenges that you want them all to know about. Write your email in the message box and click the send button to update your team! 14

If you do not want your team members to receive notifications that a donation has been made to the team, uncheck the box. We remain on the Email Center Tab, but have moved to the Preferences section. Here you may control how email notification messages are sent to your team members. The default choice is that an email is sent to all team members every time a team donation is made. If you would like to change this setting, simply click on the box so the check disappears and click save to save your choices. 15

We have moved to the Fundraising Toolbox tab. Here you will notice that you have a second option, Team Captain s Guide. This is an added resource only available to team captains. Here you have additional download files to look through as well as additional tips to help you and your team in your fundraising efforts. 16

Your Your We have moved to the Personalize Pages tab. Here you have the ability to customize your team s webpage. You have all the same resources available as on your personal page. 17

Finally, as the team captain, you have access to additional info on the Team tab. Here you will find all the members of your team listed, including their fundraising totals, email addresses and the option to see further contact information. This is a great tool to make sure that all of your team members are working hard to help us create a world without cancer! 18

Congratulations! You have been through each page of your fundraising site. You are now ready to start sending emails, posting to Facebook, recruiting team members and raising money.
