Certofix Anti-pathogenic Certofix protect catheters The patented combination of an antimicrobial agent (polyhexanide) and an athrombogenic chemical group (polyethylene glycol and polymethacrylate) creates a catheter surface with excellent anti-pathogenic characteristics. The adhesion of bacteria, which is normally the starting point of a catheter-related bloodstream infection, is effectively prevented. In addition, a high concentration of hydrophilic groups lowers the risk of thrombus aggregation on the catheter surface. The functional principle of Certofix protect The polarization of the Certofix protect catheter material destroys the cell wall structure of microorganisms in the event of surface contact. Ongoing chemical interaction between the catheter material (PUR) and a biguanide agent ensures longterm protection without leaching effect. Certofix protect prevents catheter-related infections during the entire application period. Certofix Safety Increased safety for users A broad variety of puncture needles and scalpels for incisions are used. The operating space and sterility during catheter application often complicates the immediate disposal of such sharp instruments. With Certofix Safety, B. Braun is enhancing its product portfolio for safe venous access. The Seldinger puncture needle has an active safety mechanism. The safety clip surrounds the needle tip as soon as the needle is withdrawn, so medical personnel are well protected during operation and disposal. 1 During application, the plastic housing with safety clip is located next to the needle hub. Once the guide wire has been placed in its desired position, the safety clip, covered by the hub, has to be forwarded onto skin level. While simultaneously activating the safety mechanism, the needle is withdrawn with the index finger. I After the protective cover has been removed, the scalpel is moved forward with the help of the green button until it snaps into place. After the incision it can be pushed back. Seldinger Needle Safety Puncture needle with active safety mechanism to protect against needle stick injuries. The integrated clip does not affect the puncturing procedure and can be activated single-handedly. 2 3 It is possible to activate the clip, while the cannula is guided over the guide wire. When the tip of the needle is reached, the safety clip activates automatically and covers the needle tip completely. Once the needle has been completely pulled back behind the wire, the safety clip envelops the tip irreversibly. The needle and the plastic hub can now be disposed of in the usual manner. II III Latching-mechanism appears in the window. Before the blade is finally secured, the scalpel can be held in a parking position enabling it to be handed over to other medical personnel. Once the blade has been fully withdrawn to the end of the press-button function, the safety mechanism activates. The scalpel can now be safely discarded.
