Check answers using answer keys. There are 48 countries on the pin map of Europe. Three of them; Russia, Kazakhstan, and Turkey are partly in Europe and partly in Asia. They are pinned on both the Europe and Asia pin maps. The island of Cyprus belongs to the European Union, but is geographically near Western Asia. Cyprus is pinned on the Europe map. The European countries are listed alphabetically at the beginning of the teaching commands. They are then divided according to the geographical areas used by the United Nations. The areas are Eastern Europe: 13 countries, Northern Europe: 10 countries, Southern Europe: 16 countries, and Western Europe: 9 countries.
