Page 2 Disclaimer/Warnings ***NOTE: Since Synei applications are brand new programs, some anti virus may warn you that these programs are potentially unsafe. That action is perfectly normal, because it may not recognize the programs. We will assure you that none of our programs contain any kind of spy/adware and is 100% clean. If this does occur, you will need to add the programs to your trusted list on your Anti Virus. Here is an example: Using the Guide Anti virus pop up may say: You are opening an application that may be potentially unsafe. Some anti virus may even advise you to open Synei programs in Sandbox. None of our application works on Sandbox, therefore you will need to open normally. Possible Actions To Take: Allow, Open normally, Don t Block. Please do not disable your anti virus as it may make your computer very unsecure. Even though this guide focuses on Synei System Utilities, it also provides a guide for all other programs such as Disk Cleaner and Backup Manager. To view a guide for a specific program, please refer to the table of contents to see what page the guide is in and then refer to that page. Installing Synei products Before installing the program, please check to ensure your computer meets the following hardware and requirements: Windows 8, 7, Vista, XP, or 2008/2012 (32/64 Bits Supported) 10 MB of available hard disk space 128 MB RAM or more
Page 3 1. Double click on the downloaded file (.exe) to start the installation process. Please note that you will need admin privileges to complete the installation. 2. When the installation screen pops up, click Next > to proceed. 3. Read our License Agreement and choose I accept the agreement if you agree to our terms. 4. Click Next > on Select Destination Location If you wish to change installation location, you may do so here. 5. Click Next > on Select Start Menu Folder 6. Click Next > on Select Additional Tasks 7. Click Install to Start the installation process 8. Click Finish to complete the installation How to Use Synei System Utilities Synei System Utilities is a must have application for running your computer at best performance. It comes with many featured applications, such as, Disk Cleaner, Start Up Manager, Service Manager, TuneUP, Defragment, Backup Manager, Schedule Manager, and Hard Drive Repair. Each application can be used individually if just clicked upon. Otherwise, Synei System Utilities offers a 1 Click Maintenance button, which will do all the work for you. 1 CLICK MAINTANENCE 1 Click Maintenance is a feature that does all the recommended task of optimizing your computer with only a click of a button. Click on the 1 Click Maintenance button to see these options: Analyze Only, Analyze and Optimize, Settings.
Page 4 Analyze Only: To view the current condition of your PC and what it can do for you to optimize. Analyze and Optimize: Will commence the applications to clean and optimize your PC one by one. The status of what was cleaned and/or optimized will also be located beneath each optimization application. Settings: Opens up the setting window where you may customize the application settings. This is where you may change from Recommended to Maximum optimization. You will need to restart your computer before you will notice the optimization. PC CONDITION The PC Condition notifies you about how optimized your PC is on a percentile scale. Stages of status: Excellent (Green) Satisfactory (Teal) Bad (Yellow) Critical (Pink/Red) SETTINGS If you want to personalize the Synei System Utilities application, click on the Settings button. A new box will appear; a list of settings will be on the left. As you go through the different settings, the options will appear on the right.
Page 5 GENERAL PROGRAM SETTINGS Starts Automatically When Windows Load: The Synei System Utilities will open when your computer starts; it ll start up five minutes after Windows load. This is done to make sure the program does not slow down loading time. Hide Tray on Close: Closes System Utilities, but not completely. It hides the application in the task bar. Please note that Synei System Utilities must be running in the background for scheduled tasks, such as, scheduled 1 Click Maintenance, Scheduled Backup, etc. Don t Show Other Application Windows When Tasks Are Optimizing: While the Synei System Utilities is optimizing your PC through the 1 Click Maintenance, each optimization application will not open. Instead, the status will be found below the optimization application on the home screen. 1 CLICK MAINTENANCE Optimization Setting: Recommended: Default settings for Synei System Utilities. It is safer to use, but the optimization might not be as great as maximum. Maximum: This setting will ensure the maximum performance of your PC. However, this setting is a little less safe to use. On very rare occasions, this may cause some programs to act a little weird. We suggest that you give it a try. If it does not work out, you can always go back to Recommended settings. Synei Disk Cleaner Cleans up your computer by removing all temporary/junk files. Also, it protects your privacy by cleaning tracking cookies. Overall, your computer will be cleaner, faster, and more secure. Normal Scan: Scans only the default paths. Full Scan: Does a full scan that cleans more of your PC. Custom Scan: Scans the files of your personal preference. Windows Disk Cleaner: Run Windows Disk Cleaner alongside Synei Disk Cleaner for an extra level of cleaning. Secure Delete: Securely deletes the file so they may not be recovered as easily.
Page 6 Synei Startup Manager Detects and disables more than 16,000 different types of programs that automatically load at startup, which enhances your computer s speed. User Choice: Optimizes startup entries that are categorized as User Choice. These include programs that some people may want running, but most of the time they are not needed to run when windows load. If required, they can easily be started by right clicking on the program and choosing Run this program. Not Needed: Optimizes startup entries that are categorized as Not needed. These programs do not need to be running when windows load and it is recommended that you select this option. Should Disable: These programs are unwanted and many of them are considered Spyware/Trojans. It is strongly recommended that you select this option. Synei Service Manager Disables unnecessary windows services that slow down your computer. Your computer will start up faster, and you will have less services running in the background that takes away your ram. Default Settings: Restores windows services to default settings. Normal Optimization: Optimizes Windows services, so that your computer performs much faster. Maximum Optimization: Thoroughly optimizes Windows service, so that your computer performs at maximum performance. Please take note that this setting may cause very few programs on Windows to not work exactly as intended. You can easily restore it back to Normal Optimization if that happens. Synei Tune UP Modifies the registry settings for optimal performance. System: Modifies System related registry for optimal performance. Internet: Modifies registry settings that may speed up internet access. For some people (depending on their ISP), this setting may not work. If that is the case, please uncheck it. Synei Defrag Defragments your hard drives so it performs much faster. System Drive Only: Defrags only the system drive so it performs faster. All Drives: Defrags all drives so that they all perform faster. (Note: It is recommended that you do not defrag SSD Drives)
Page 7 Theme/Theme Colors You may change your theme anytime by going into the Theme section. There are already many pre built themes for you to use. The default theme is called Silent Night. o To change your theme: Select a theme from the dropdown box. Click Set. Then, click OK. You may also customize the colors of your theme. o To customize your theme colors: Go to the Theme Colors section. Click Change Color on the field that you want to change the color of. Select your new color and click OK. Click Apply when finished. Theme Settings: Background Wallpaper: You may change your application background to an image of your choice. To do so, simply check Background Image, and select the image you would like to use. Please note that using a high definition image may lower the application s performance. Copy: Opens a new window that displays the current theme codes. You can click Copy to copy those theme codes to the clipboard. Be sure to save it in a safe place. Paste: Opens a new window where you can paste the theme codes by clicking Paste. Click Apply when finished. When you paste the theme codes, the theme will be changed to the corresponding theme from your code. Basically, the theme will be generated based on those codes. DISK CLEANER The Synei Disk Cleaner cleans up your computer by removing all temporary/junk files. Also, it protects your privacy by cleaning tracking cookies. Overall, your computer will be cleaner, faster, and more secure.
Page 8 To the left side of the application are areas that can be cleaned. Check: The files that you would like to be cleaned. Uncheck: The files that you do not want to be cleaned. Analyze Only: If checked when you press Clean, it will only give you a report on what can be cleaned (To properly clean your PC, you must uncheck this option). Clean: When pressed, it will clean your selected files. You may also use Windows Disk Cleanup with Synei Disk Cleaner. In order to do so, check Windows Disk Cleanup on the bottom left corner of the application. Click Info if you would like to learn why you might want to run Windows Disk Cleanup alongside Synei Disk Cleanup. Advanced Synei Disk Cleaner offers Advanced scanning, which loads a large list of paths to scan and clean. Please note that this is for advanced users, and it is strongly recommended that you know what you are doing before proceeding. To use this feature: Select Advanced in the list of files on the left side of the application (it will be at the very bottom). Select the items you want to scan. Be sure that Analyze Only is checked. It is strongly recommended that you first analyze the files that will be deleted. To clean: Uncheck Analyze Only and press Clean. START UP MANAGER The Synei Start Up Manager detects and disables more than 16,000 different types of programs that automatically load at startup, which enhances your computer s speed.
Page 9 There are three statuses at the top right (check those that you want to view): User Choice: Optimizes startup entries that are categorized as User Choice. These include programs that some people may want running, but most of the time they are not needed to run when windows load. o If required, they can easily be started by right clicking on the program and choosing Run this program. Not Needed: Optimizes startup entries that are categorized as Not needed. These programs definitely do not need to be running when Windows load, and it is recommended that you select this option. Should Disable: These programs are unwanted and many of them are considered Spyware/Trojans. It is strongly recommended that you select this option. To see the status of each program: Click Scan items. ***The files will be highlighted in three different colors (colors will match the three statues on the top right). To change the status of the files individually, check or uncheck the box next to the file in the list and then click Apply. Checked: To enable load during start up. Enabled: Already enabled. To Enable: Will be enabled when you click Apply. Enabled but does not exist: This file does not exist and it is strongly recommended that you delete them. Unchecked: Disabled: Does not load at startup. To Disable: Disables the program from loading at startup. SERVICE MANAGER Synei Service Manager disables unnecessary Windows services that slow down your computer. Your computer will start up faster, and you will have less services running in the background that takes away space from your ram.
Page 10 To use the Synei Service Manager, first choose your preferred settings: Default Settings: Restores services Windows default settings (no optimization). Safe Optimization: Optimize services efficiently for performance boost. Maximum Optimization: Maximum optimization of services for a much bigger performance boost. Then, click Optimize. A new window should pop up, listing all the services that could be improved. Click Apply Changes and you are all done. Additional button: Describe: Describes the service that is highlighted/selected in the box. Refresh: Refreshes the list so that you can view the status of new services. Extra Optimization (Extra > Extra Optimization): It displays a list of extra services that may be disabled in order to further optimize your computer. TUNEUP The Synei TuneUP modifies the registry settings for optimal performance.
Page 11 Please check or uncheck the options that you would like to optimize: System: Modifies system related registry for optimal performance. Internet: Modifies registry settings that may speed up internet access. For some people (depending on their ISP), this setting may not work. If that is the case, please uncheck it. Next, pick the action that you would like to perform: Default: Restores all the settings to Window s default settings. Optimize: Optimizes all the settings for faster performance. DEFRAGMENT The Synei Defragment application defrags your hard drives, so that it is easier and allows quicker access to your files and folders on your PC. The most important drive to defrag is the system drive, because that is where all the files are moving/being accessed. Even so, you should also defrag all the other drives for overall optimal performance. Don t panic if you don t receive results right away! In order to provide you with excellent service, the Synei Defragment application may take a while to defrag your PC s hard drive. System Drives > The drive your Windows installed. Most of the time, it is the C:\ drive. Checked: The hard drive(s) that you want to have defragged. Unchecked: The hard drives that will not be defragged. Analyze: Will notify you about how much total fragmentation there is by percentile. Defrag: Defrags the selected hard drives for better disk performance. BACKUP MANAGER Keep all your important files safe with Synei Backup Manager; it s fast and easy to use. Just select the folder that you want to backup, and the location of where you want it to be saved on the computer.
Page 12 To use: Click Add Task o 1. Select the folder that you would like to back up by clicking Select. o 2. Select the destination that you would like to save your backup by clicking Select. o 3. Choose a backup folder name. o 4. Choose your backup mode. Sync: Performs a full back up and then keeps that backup synchronized with the source. Meaning, your backup will always be the latest version. This only replaces the files that have been modified since the last back up. It is extremely fast. Overwrite: Performs a full back up every single time. If there is another backup that already exist, it deletes that backup first. This method is slower. o 5. If you would like to compress your backup, check Compress Folder. o 6. If you would like to encrypt your backup, check Another Layer Encryption. o 7. Click Add Backup Task, then Close. o 8. Then, you can click Backup Now. Note: 1. You may add as many backup tasks as you want. 2. If you would like to add Data, Time, and/or Day of week in your backup folder name, you may use %Date%, %Time%, and/or %Day%. For example: BackupName %Day% translates into BackupName Tuesday.
Page 13 Additional Information: Featured buttons at the top of the list: Add Task: To add a task that you want to be backed up. o Edit Task: To edit a task that is highlighted in the list of folders below. o Delete Task: Deletes the selected (highlighted) items in the list below. o Save Locations: Saves the current locations of the folders that you use for backup. (see Preference under the Edit tab to automatically save locations). o Manage Schedule: Automatically backs up the folders that you have selected on the days and time that you have selected. Options under the File tab: o Import Settings: Transfers saved settings. o Export Settings: Saves current setting to a folder on your PC. Options under the Edit tab: o Exclude List: Add the folder that you do not want to back up. o Preference: Modifies Backup Manager settings. Options under the Task tab: o Encryption/Decryption Tool: Encrypts or decrypts your desired files. Please note that you will need to use this tool to decrypt your backup if you previously used Another Layer Encryption. Compress Option: If you choose to compress your folder, it will be archived in.zip format. By compressing your backup folder, it reduces the overall backup size and holds them in a single.zip format file. You will need to uncompress your.zip file before you are able to access your backup folder again. Compress Password: You may secure your compressed file with a password, so that the only people that can uncompress it are the people that have the password. Password Encryption Algorithm: PkzipWeak Readable by all. You can use any zip utilities to uncompress these files, even the Windows built in zip. Although, it is not very secure. WinZipAes256 Stronger and more secure encryption. You will need to use a good archival utility, such as, Winrar, Winzip, 7 zip to uncompress these files. Another Layer Encryption: You can use this feature if you plan to use the Compress option. Basically, this encrypts your compressed file into an unreadable format. No other utilities will be able to uncompress your
Page 14 file. You will need to use Synei Backup Manager s Decrypt Utility to decrypt the encrypted file before you can uncompress it again. This adds a huge amount of security to your backup folder. Please note: you will need the password that you used to encrypt the file in order to decrypt it. If you forgot your password, then you will not be able to decrypt the file. For more information on ALE (Another Layer Encryption) and how to use it, refer to the information below. Another Layer Encryption Description Encryption is the procedure of encoding your information (file, documents, etc.) in a way that no one, except yourself, is able to access that information. When you encrypt your information using this tool, your information is secured and not accessible. You will need to provide a password that you want to use to encrypt your information; please store this password in a safe place because if you lose it, you will not be able to access your information. You will be able to access your information again if you decrypt it by using the password that you encrypted it with. 1. Select a file that you want to encrypt. 2. Select a location/name of the file that you want to encrypt to. 3. Provide a password that you want to use to encrypt it with. 4. Click the Encrypt Now button. If you would like to encrypt a whole folder, please use Synei Backup Manager to back up and compress the folder into a single archived file. To do so, use the Another Layer Encryption option. Decryption Tool (Edit > Encryption/Decryption Tool) Decryption is the procedure of decoding your information (file, documents, etc.) with the password that you used to encrypt/encode it. If you successfully decrypt your information by using the correct password, you will be able to access it again. 1. Select a file that you want to decrypt. 2. Select a location/name of the file that you want to decrypt to. 3. Provide the password that you previously used to encrypt this file. 4. Click the Decrypt Now button.
Page 15 SCHEDULE MANAGER The Synei Schedule Manager allows you to create tasks for your computer to initiate automatically on your preferred date and time. It keeps track of your entire schedule and activates your task in the background of your PC. The list of your scheduled tasks is provided for you so that you can keep track of them, edit, delete, or add a task. Note: In order for Synei Schedule Manager to work, you must have Synei System Utilities running. How to use: Click Add o 1. Choose an application you want to use. o 2. Choose a task you want to perform with that application. o 3. Choose the option that you want to perform with the application. o 4. Choose date/time of the task that you want to activate. o 5. Click Add again, and then click Close. Note: If you choose Custom Application, you will need to provide the application that you want to activate by choosing Select App in the options. Featured buttons: o Add: To create a new task. Tasks that are available to select: 1 Click Maintenance, Automatic Shutdown, Backup Manager, Custom Application, Disk Cleaner, Disk Defrag, Startup Manager, and Service Manager. Task: Shows a list of tasks that can be performed. Options: Gives options for the task that will be performed. Launch this task: Launches your task at a specified day/time.
Page 16 o Edit: To edit a current task that is listed. Select/highlight the task that you would like to edit. Click the Edit button. Change options to your preferred settings (will be the same layout as the Add button). o Delete: Will delete the selected/highlighted task when clicked. o Run Now: Activates the specified task immediately. Apply: Click to save all your settings. AUTOMATIC SHUTDOWN This application allows you to schedule an automatic shutdown for your PC on the desired date and time. It can also be accessed from the Synei Schedule Manager by clicking the Add button. Select Automatic Shutdown under Create a Task. Select a task: o Shutdown: Will automatically shut down PC at desired time. o Restart: Will automatically restart PC at desired time. Select Mode: o Normal: Shut down/restarts normally. If many applications are running, some of them might prevent you from shutting down the computer. o Force: Shut down/restarts no matter what. This is useful if you have stubborn applications running that prevents you from automatically shutting down your computer. Select your desired time/date that you would like to shut down. Click Add to apply your task, and then click Close. REPAIR HARD DRIVE This application scans your hard drive sector and attempts to repair any bad sector. It uses Microsoft Check Disk. To scan or repair your hard drive: Select the desired hard drive by Drive to Check. Check or uncheck the options of actions to take. Click Scan to repair hard drives. It will most likely tell you that your drive is already in use. It will also ask you if you would like to schedule a Check Disk for the next time that your computer starts. Please
Page 17 click Yes, to perform a proper Check Disk operation the next time your computer is restarted. This can take anywhere from 30 minutes to over an hour. LOGS TAB The logs are a documentation of when you accessed each application. Each log will display: Application: Which application that you made changes to. Task: What action you took (clean, optimize, etc.). Status: The condition of the operation. Date: The date and time that the action took place. To delete logs: Click Clear List. Updating Synei Programs All our programs contain an Update button, which will help you update your program. To update your program: Click Help > Check for update. A new window should pop up where you can click Check Now. This will check with our server to ensure that the applications you are using are the latest version. Click Update, if an update is available. This will take you to our download page where u can download the latest version of our programs. If you are updating System Utilities, then that is the only program that you will need to update because it will also update the rest of the programs, such as, Disk Cleaner.
