It takes just two letters to describe a legend. The SL Mille Miglia 417. There are those special moments in life where everything just comes together. 3:46 p.m. on 1 May 1955 was one such moment, when John Fitch and his co-driver Kurt Gessl crossed the finishing line in Brescia as the winners in the series production sports car class on board the 300 SL with starting number 417 after 11 h, 29 min, 21 sec and 1597 kilometres. This crowned the double victory which Stirling Moss and Juan Manuel Fangio pulled off in the overall rankings in the 300 SLR. It was a moment that still resonates today: after 60 years and numerous other wins, the SL remains among the most fascinating automobiles of its era. And one of the most sought-after too, in the guise of the exclusive special model SL Mille Miglia 417.
A power sublime. The SL Mille Miglia 417 in designo night black magno. The stylish roadster is also in a class of its own when it comes to looks with the signature long SL bonnet and the striking, powerful rear end. And not least of all by virtue of its masculine special matt black paint finish. Finely crafted details, such as the trim on the rear bumper in magma red or the AMG spoiler lip on the boot lid in matt carbon fibre, underscore its exclusively sporty character. It is immediately apparent that the SL Mille Miglia 417 is a true bundle of energy just waiting to show its strengths.
A captivating sight. Bold red highlights and the SL MILLE MIGLIA 417 badge on the fins emphasize its true identity. The forged AMG wheels also make a big impression, measuring 48.3 cm (19") at the front and a princely 50.8 cm (20") at the rear. Painted in matt black with a red rim flange, they are an expression of pure power. Power that is kept under control in impressive fashion by the red brake callipers with silver Mercedes-Benz lettering.
