Release Letter Product: Version: VIP X1 XF H.264 Firmware 4.10.0039 This letter contains latest information about the above mentioned product. 1. General This initial release covers the new single channel H.264 encoder VIP X1 XF. The H.264 firmware version 4.10.0039 or newer is required. The VIP X1 XF is a stand alone single channel high-performance video encoder. The VIP X1 XF provides two independent H.264 Main Profile streams. In addition to the two H.264 streams the VIP X1 XF supports one JPEG stream. It also allows control of Bilinx cameras and always provides bi-directional audio on board. The VIP X1 XF is equipped with a hardware accelerator for video content analysis, providing full IVA 4.0 functionality in hardware-speed when licensed. The graphical user interface in combination with the firmware 4.10.0039 supports 2 (English and German) languages including online help files. The initial firmware package includes. Other languages will be added with later firmware versions. 1

2. Features H.264 Main Profile next generation encoder o H.264 baseline profile plus (BP+) providing IPP structure for around 200 ms latency o H.264 main profile (MP) providing IP structure with hierarchically coded stream with a maximum 240 ms delay 2 independent H.264 streams with 4CIF resolution and full frame rate per video input, e.g.: o first stream for Divar XF and VIPXD support H.264 baseline profile o second stream for storage with H.264 main profile, recorded on iscsi In addition a JPEG Streaming with up to 8 ips@cif and 3ips@4CIF FPGA for high-end VCA functionality using the IVA 4.0 algorithms in HW SD card slot for local recording/tested cards: o SanDisk Ultra II (8, 16 and 32 GB) class 4 o SanDisk Extreme III (8,16 and 32 GB) class 6 and 10 Bilinx camera control Unit Password 3 level access (live view, operation and administration) MD5 encryption for the password transmission to the browser Unit ID setting Unit name with max. 31 characters Date and time setting, including daylight saving time table Date and time synchronization with PC Time server protocol and SNTP support Video One analogue BNC video input channels PAL/NTSC Encoding of 2 independent H.264 streams with 2x 4CIF@25/30ips. Encoding of 1 additional JPEG streams at the highest selected resolution of one of H.264 streams. Audio Bidirectional mono audio, line level, G.711, via stereo audio jack Audio level meter 2

Alarm Two alarm inputs plus 4 virtual alarms Hard-wired alarm input active low or active high Alarm input name of up to 31 character Connection on alarm to a configurable IP address Auto connect to pre-defined IP addresses (force permanent connection) Alarm connections with up to 10 different alarm IP addresses Alarm Task Editor for modification and enhancement of alarm scripts Relay Two solid-state relay contacts Relay output setting idle state closed or open Relay operation mode bi-stable or mono-stable with 0,5sec, 1sec, 2sec, 5sec, 10sec and 60sec of activation time Relay follows function for connection, alarm input pin or remote input Interface Serial port support for RS232/RS422/RS485 functionality. The port can be used in terminal or transparent mode. Minimized delay for transparent data Service Setting of IP address and subnet mask Setting of Gateway IP address Multicast protocol IGMP is supported for both V2 and V3 Video stream can be configured for connection via TCP or UDP Device s HTML page access can be set to TCP ports 80 and 10000 to 10100 to allow the support of NAT. Secure access using HTTPS for Web browser or control connections AES encryption with 128 bit keys as licensable option Firmware upload via browser Save configuration data from the unit to PC hard disc Upload configuration data to the unit SNMP MIB II and traps have full functionality with community string. Telnet support 3

3. H.264 Firmware 4.10.0039 Features ONVIF 1.0 compliance fully achieved PTZ, event and imaging services are supported. Firmware is fully compliant with the official ONVIF Test Tool 1.01. Dual H.264 Streaming / Triple Streaming o Products running firmware 4.10 allow two H.264 streams with independent profile settings. o The properties of the streams are configured via a new Encoder Streams page that provides better usability and a better overview of the streams settings. o In addition to the two H.264 streams, a Motion-JPEG stream is provided. o H.264 video preview thumbnails can be enlarged to a 100% scaled preview. MOTION+ alarms can be applied with a debounce time of 1 second to reduce event load to management systems. Multiple MOTION+ or IVA alarms can be aggregated over a configurable time period. RTSP audio connections now use 8 khz timestamps to allow audio with standard media players like QuickTime or VLC. On-screen display at an analogue Dinion camera connected to a VIPX1 XF can be reached via Web browser interface. Audio is possible in 16 khz quality for live connections. This mode requires approx. 500 kbit/s for such an audio stream. Recording of 16 khz audio is not possible. New IVA versions can be tested during a 30-day trial period, beginning with upgrading to a firmware including a new IVA version. This requires a special activation key which is available on request. 4

UPnP support for MS Windows XP and Vista UPnP support is always enabled, making BVIP devices easily acknowledgeable on every MS Windows PC. The Universal Plug and Play (UPnP) services in Microsoft Windows use the Simple Service Discovery Protocol (SSDP) to locate and connect to network devices and services. Note: If this automatism is not wanted, e.g. due to security recommendations or in a large installation, the services to bring up UPnP devices can be terminated easily on the respective PC. For manual termination follow the steps below: o Either go to Start --> Run... and type "services.msc", then click OK o Or go to Start --> Settings --> Control Panel --> Administrative Tools and start Services o Find the service named "Universal Plug and Play Device Host" service and double-click o Click the Stop button to stop the service o For permanent disabling, under Startup type select Disabled from the pull-down menu and click OK. o Then find the service named "SSDP Discovery Service" and double-click o Click the Stop button to stop the service o For permanent disabling, under Startup type select Disabled from the pull-down menu and click OK. 5

4. Restrictions; Known Issues The camera date/time will be set to default (Year 2000) after power loss exceeding the buffer period. It is important to ensure that the date/time is correct for recording. An incorrect date/time setting could prevent from correct recording. The value for I-frame distance should not be set to 0, it might cause impermanent fuzzy image in special condition. The function key F12 is assigned by MS IE8, it s suggested to use Viewer + function key F4 to enable the audio back channel. After firmware upload while daylight saving time checkbox is activated the time zone must be adjusted. After reboot, the system time re-synchronisation may be delayed up to 9 seconds for SNTP respectively up to 14 seconds for time server protocol. Resolutions for RTSP are depending on 3 rd party player capability. LUN size for local recording via Direct iscsi is limited to 2 TB. VRM version 2.10 or higher is required. The encoder property setting H.264 BP+ (HW Decoder) can only be selected for one stream. If the second H.264 stream is configured for this property, the selection of the other stream will be changed to H.264 MP Low Latency. In rare cases it may happen that the owner of an iscsi LUN is not displayed correctly. Recording is not affected, just previous owner remains displayed. Replay from local iscsi is not possible via NAT. If a device had primary and secondary recording running on SD card and is then added to a VRM system, the blocks used for primary recording will not be re-used, reducing the available recording space for the ANR recording. This can be solved by re-formatting the SD card. 6
