WELCOME TO S Throughout time, the haunting image of the East African landscape has captured the hearts and souls of many. It is perhaps one of the few places left on earth where adventure still awaits. This evocative land of rolling savannas, dense forests, mighty mountains, rivers, lakes and unrivalled wildlife provides a unique backdrop for a truly memorable experience. Kenya and Tanzania claim some of the world s most beautiful National Parks, teeming with game - large and small. Nestling within them, complementing the magnificent surroundings, s will be found. The eight lodges which make up the Sopa portfolio have been individually designed to compliment their environments while reflecting the themes and influences of culture and custom within. Large open-plan areas and rondavel-style guest rooms represent both the local landscape and the inhabitants who make up the rich tapestry of Kenya and Tanzania. The location of every guest room has been carefully chosen to promise the best views over the parkland while offering cool and elegant surroundings. The high standard of accommodation is matched by the attention given to each guest. Staff are carefully selected for their dedication to personal service combined with a genuine friendliness which ensures that all guests experience an unrivalled level of hospitality. Dining is given great importance within s, with menus drawing from the classical African, European, and Asian origins, fused with modern eclectic themes and influences. Wherever possible, produce is sourced locally from the rich farmland areas nearby, allowing s to continue with support and commitment to local communities.

AMBOSELI Set in 200 acres of private land, and with a rustic charm all of its own, the lodge nestles on the foothills of Africa s highest and most famous mountain - Mount Kilimanjaro. While the park conserves over six hundred breeding species of birds as well a host of rare and wonderful wildlife, this is also home to the Maasai people, perhaps the world s most renowned African tribe. Amboseli is set within mature wooded gardens with a wide variety of trees and plants which include thorn trees, Acacias, fragrant Frangipanis, colorful bougainvillea and giant cacti which all thrive in these surroundings. The gardens are also home to numerous species of birds as well as monkeys, mongooses, squirrels, duikers, the occasional gazelle and, once in a while, even an ever inquisitive leopard. KENYA

LAKE NAIVASHA SOPA RESORT Situated on the southern shores of Lake Naivasha, second largest of only two freshwater lakes in Kenya s Great Rift Valley, Naivasha is an impressive property with a dramatic back-drop. The lake is the stage of some magnificent storms and was named Nai Pasha (rough water) by the Masai tribes. Set in one hundred and fifty acres of grassland studded with Acacia bushes and trees, the resort is not only home to our resident giraffe, waterbuck and both Vervet and Colobus monkeys, but it is also a night stop for the hippos when they leave the lake every night to come and trim the grass on our expansive lawns. KENYA

LAKE NAKURU Located on a range of hills that form the western limits of Africa s Great Rift Valley, the lodge offers spectacular views over the vastness of Africa. The lodge also overlooks Lake Nakuru and its surrounding National Park,. Lake Nakuru National Park is mainly a wooded and bushy grassland with a wide ecological diversity and characteristic habitats that range from the lake waters to the escarpment and ridges. The park supports a wide ecological diversity with Flamingos and other water birds being the major attractions of the area. The ecosystem provides for about 56 different species of mammals including the white rhino and buffaloes and a variety of terrestrial birds numbering nearly 450 species. KENYA

MASAI MARA Located on the slopes of the Oloolaimutia Hills, the Masai Mara offers magnificent views across the eastern reaches of the fabled Masai Mara Game Reserve. Set in expansive and mature wooded gardens, the lodge has an ethnic design that incorporates traditional round buildings with thatched roofs for its guest rooms and public areas. Almost all of the most coveted game can be viewed in the Mara, including the Big Five, lion, leopard, elephant, rhino and buffalo. Each year the annual migration of game from the Serengeti into the Masai Mara is one of nature s most awe-inspiring sights when many of the two million wildebeest and zebra in search of grazing and drinking water reach the Masai Mara and remain there until they make their long and arduous trek back home. KENYA

SAMBURU Located inside the Samburu National Reserve in Northern Kenya, Samburu Sopa lodge is built atop high ground allowing panaromic views of the vastness of Samburu shrub land and the hills beyond. The lodge is built to reflect the architectural heritage of the local communities whose sons and daughters make up the majority of the work force at the lodge. Fifteen cottages, each with two bedrooms are built in an arch formation on either side of the public areas to surround the waterhole but leaving a wide gap to allow the animals free movement to the water. The Samburu National Reserve forms a part of a far larger wildlife conservation area which incorporates the Buffalo Springs National Reserve to the south, and the Shaba National Reserve to the east between which the resident wildlife freely migrates. KENYA

SERENGETI Located on the edge of the escarpment overlooking the plains of the south-western Serengeti National Park, home to many thousands of wild and rare animals, Serengeti lies within an area of out-standing natural beauty. An oasis of cool relaxation from the equatorial sun. The lodge allows its guests to experience magnificent sights and enjoy interaction with the land and animals difficult to find elsewhere, whilst at the same time enjoying the highest level of cuisine and hospitality. The best of East Africa s game can be seen in the park and, with its high number of resident carnivores, the opportunity to find lion, cheetah and leopard is unparalleled. That, combined with two million wildebeest making their journey to the Masai Mara every year less than a kilometre from the lodge, makes the encounter The Greatest Wildlife Show On Earth. TANZANIA

TARANGIRE Built to blend in with the vastness of its surroundings, Tarangire lies hidden among the kopjes, ancient baobab and grasses of the Tarangire National Park - home to the greatest concentration of elephants in Africa. Many can be seen around the lodge, allowing visitors a close encounter. The park is also home to most other game including the elusive leopard and over 400 bird species. In an area of constant water, the landscape provides the wonderful comparison of burnt ground with lush greenery nearby. Staying close to the water, concentrations of game, including elephant, buffalo, zebra, lion and leopard can often be seen. TANZANIA

NGORONGORO A World Heritage site, and often referred to as the Eighth Wonder of the World, Ngorongoro Crater, in the volcanic highlands of Tanzania, covers an area of some 240 square kilometres and is host to over 20,000 large animals. Facing the always magnificent sunsets to the west, and located at the highest point on Ngorongoro crater s entire rim, Ngorongoro stands well over half a kilometre above the crater floor and offers unparalleled views across this enormous caldera. Themed around traditionally circular African houses with conical roofs, and decorated with examples of Africa s rich tapestry of artistic traditions, the lodge harmonizes perfectly with its dramatic surroundings.
