The mission of the mission of the Pharmacy Technician program is to provide strong foundations in pharmaceutical knowledge, integration, and application in order to support pharmacists in the safe and efficient preparation of medications. 6. Unit Purpose/Mission Statement: Students demonstrate competency in each of the following areas: 1. Assist the pharmacist in the preparation, dispensing, and consulting activities of pharmacy practice. 2. emonstrate knowledge of pharmacy laws and regulations as they pertain to pharmacy technician responsibilities, including application of procedures of the rug Enforcement Administration (EA) and state requirements for controlled substances; ethical responsibilities; and the role of the Louisiana Board of Pharmacy. 3. emonstrate knowledge and skills in areas of science relevant to the pharmacy technician s role, including anatomy and physiology and pharmacology. 4. Utilize effective verbal and written communication skills to meet the needs of diverse patient populations and function effectively as a member of the health care team. 5. emonstrate critical thinking skills needed to prioritize, anticipate and analyze problems, and to evaluate and implement solutions within accepted guidelines and laws.

(A) Unit Goal #1 Assist the pharmacist in the preparation, dispensing, and customer service activities of pharmacy practice. (B) Measurable Outcomes (C) Assessment Method () /I Year 2 At least 60% of Pharmacy 1513 will score a minimum of 80% on their Procedure to Maintain Aseptic Technique quiz. Quiz 1513 At least 60% of Pharmacy 2012 will score a 2 of 4, or higher, on the Preceptor Evaluation Tool criteria 1.3 emonstrate correct procedure when filing medication orders. Preceptor Evaluation Tool 2012

(A) Unit Goal #2 emonstrate knowledge of pharmacy laws and regulations as they pertain to pharmacy technician responsibilities, including application of procedures of the rug Enforcement Administration (EA) and state requirements for controlled substances; ethical responsibilities; and the role of the Louisiana Board of Pharmacy. (B) Measurable Outcomes (C) Assessment Method () /I 1300 will score a minimum of 75 on their rug Enforcement Administration (EA) and state requirements for controlled substances examination. Assignment 1300 1200 will score a minimum of 85% on their Pharmacist and Technician Roles and Responsibilities Quiz. Quiz 1200

(A) Unit Goal #3 emonstrate knowledge and skills in areas of science relevant to the pharmacy technician s role, including anatomy and physiology and pharmacology. (B) Measurable Outcomes (C) Assessment Method () /I 1400 will score a minimum of 70% on the dosage calculation assessment. Quiz 1400 2022 will score a 2 of 4, or higher, on the Preceptor Evaluation Tool criteria 1.6: emonstrate ability to perform appropriate dosage calculations. Preceptor Evaluation Tool 2022

(A) Unit Goal #4 Utilize effective verbal and written communication skills to meet the needs of diverse patient populations and function effectively as a member of the health care team. (B) Measurable Outcomes (C) Assessment Method () /I 2000 will score a minimum of 70% on their Mock Interview. Mock Interview 2000 1200 will communication skills as evidenced by obtain a minimum of 70% on the Special Needs Communication Presentation. Assignment and Rubric 1200

(A) Unit Goal #5 emonstrate critical thinking skills needed to prioritize, anticipate and analyze problems, and to evaluate and implement solutions within accepted guidelines and laws. (B) Measurable Outcomes (C) Assessment Method () /I 1513 will score a minimum 80% on their Reflective Journal Assignment. Assignment 1513 1503 will achieve a minimum of 80% on their Medication Error Report. Assignment 1503
