Name of the Course: M.A. in Translation: Theory and Application Aims and Objectives India is a multi-lingual Country. It has also inherited a very old culture and cultural records. It is, therefore, imperative to facilitate access and communication, country-wide, through translations of literatures of various kinds, available in classical languages and modern regional languages of India. Hence, there is an urgent need to introduce a full-fledged course in Translation. The Centre of Advanced Study in Sanskrit of this University of Pune, therefore, has framed this M.A. course in Translation : Theory and Application with the help of a team of experts in this field of study. The University of Pune will be the first University in the country to introduce such a course with a holistic approach by incorporating inputs from our long Sanskrit tradition. This course aims at producing not only excellent translators but also Language experts with deep Knowledge of structures of various languages of India. The students trained through this programme will have better job opportunities in various fields such as Educational institutions, Parliament, 1

Courts, Translation Bureau, Government Departments, Media, New papers, Text-book Bureau, Publishing houses, Industries and Companies,Language Technology Centres etc. This Course can be offered by Graduate of any Discipline Duration : 2 Years (four Semesters) Eligibility : Graduation in any subject Fee Structure: As per the University norms for any M.A. Course.
