MATERIALS Materials Cor-Ten Steel Aluminium 32

Quality guaranteed from raw material production to the end product and lifecycle. Materials can be re-used or recycled and used as a raw material for new steel or other products. For steel and aluminium an extensive set of colours available. The material thickness for steel is 1.2 mm and for aluminium and Cor-Ten 1.5 mm. Weather-resistant Cor-Ten steel is used in architectural applications without requiring any separate surface treatment. The use of weather-resistant steel thus eliminates the need for surface treatments during the manufacturing and operational periods, in turn lowering the environmental load and costs throughout the product s life cycle. 33

Positive challenge Considering all the potential that architects have in their talented hands, it often seems that architects and architecture could have a much wider role when defining the character for the built environment. As an architect, I have set a goal to design and build an aesthetic sustainable environment in a larger scale, contributing to it, aiming to make a difference. The idea of Ruukki s Design Palette has been to develop and offer a high-quality shape, material and colour palette for architects skilled hands - for you as an architect to have an excellent raw material palette available when designing and defining the character for the built environment. I think this is a way to support architects to success even more when creating an aesthetic and sustainable environment in larger scale for all of us. At Ruukki we see that there are still things that need to be developed further regarding our palette. We have set a zero tolerance limit for defects in quality and we continue our work to expand the palette with elegant products we can all be proud of.
