Making a Post SCHOOL OF PROFESSIONAL DEVELOPMENT
SCHOOL OF PROFESSIONAL DEVELOPMENT Word Processor vs. Blackboard Composing in Blackboard is fine for short responses, but you might get timed out during longer posts, so copy your text before you click Submit. Composing in a word processor allows you to save messages outside of Blackboard, which is useful for future reference. Also, a good word processor will have a built-in thesaurus. BUT
SCHOOL OF PROFESSIONAL DEVELOPMENT Some Word Caveats Sometimes material from Word is not compatible with the Blackboard discussion board: Tables will not paste properly; build tables within Blackboard. Colors might not be true; change the color within Blackboard. Styled text (bold, italics, underlining, etc.) should display well or you could apply text styles from within Blackboard. You can always practice posting material in the SPD Online Course.
SCHOOL OF PROFESSIONAL DEVELOPMENT Cite Your Sources Either create an in-text citation or put the source at the bottom of the post. Add hyperlinks so others can find your material. Not sure about citation? Visit the SPD Library Guide (info to follow). Cite Your Sources

Post early in the week you will soon come to understand why you don t want to be a weekend student. Don t post anything without reading others posts first. Cite your sources.
