Health Insurance Enrollment for SI Fellows When you go to ielect.secova.com, this is the log in page you should see: As detailed in the informational packet, the Company Code is SmithsonianInstitution, your username is your last name and the last four digits of your SSN*, and your initial temporary password is your birthday (mmddyyyy). You will be asked to create a new password and security question upon logging in. If at any time you forget your password and cannot log in, you should contact Secova s technical support center at (877)698-9781. *IF you do not have an SSN, please contact OFI for your placeholder number. After logging in, you will see the following page with your basic information. If the address in Secova is incorrect you will not be able to change it you must contact OFI. Click on the orange button on the right hand side that says Start Enrollment.

You will see the following disclaimer screen pop up. Read the disclaimer and click I agree. You will be taken to the following Benefits Walk page. For the second question regarding your insurance contributions, leave the field as PRE-TAX. OFI manually schedules your payments so this field will not be taken into consideration. If you want to know more about how premium deductions are scheduled, please visit our Health Insurance FAQ. Answer all questions on this page. Click the green Save and Continue button.

This following page is where you ll make your health plan selection. Select the plan you wish to enroll in. Many of the plans will require that you provide an ID number for a Primary Care Physician in the box on the right hand side of the screen. You can look up different providers by clicking on the Plan details-url link after expanding View Plan Details. This will open a new window directing you to the carrier s (CareFirst or Kaiser) website. There, you can click on the Find Providers tab or the Find doctors & locations link. Please note: the costs on this page do not apply to fellows. This includes the Employee Only column next to each plan as well as the box on the right hand side labeled Cost for this plan. Secova was created for employees and therefore does not accurately reflect costs for fellows. Unfortunately, OFI cannot change this feature in Secova. At the bottom of the page you can add dependents if you want to enroll in a Family plan. Once you have selected the plan you d like to enroll in, Click the green Save and Continue button.

The next page is for Beneficiary Allocation, which does not apply to fellows since they are not eligible for Life Insurance through SI. Simply click the green Save & Continue button. The following screen will show your Election Summary a review of the plan you have chosen. Please remember that the costs shown on this page are not applicable to fellows. The Start column under the Coverage Date column should reflect your tenure start date, which is the date your coverage is effective (regardless of what point in your first 60 days you enroll). Click the green Confirm Election button.

A small screen will appear giving you the option to email or print your confirmation. Click Ok or Cancel. Once you are finished, you will be redirected to the Home screen, the first screen you saw after logging in. You should now see that the plan you have chosen appears under the Coverage column in the middle of the page. If you have any trouble or need assistance while enrolling, please contact OFI (202.633.7070).

Changing coverage: If you wish to waive your enrollment due to a Qualifying Life Event, log in to Secova and click on the Life Event tab. You should select the appropriate Event Type from the drop down menu and enter the date of the event. You will need to upload supporting documents, which can be done by clicking the link at the bottom of the page. Please be sure to notify OFI of any changes you d like to make to your coverage.
