Handcrafted Granite Memorials

he collection of memorial designs contained in this brochure have been produced and crafted in Granite which is one of the most durable and hardest natural stones. Granite is quarried and imported from all over the world and is available in a wide range of natural colours. In addition to the designs contained in this brochure, our stonemasons are able to design and create a memorial to individual requirements. By a combination of traditional skills and modern technology, a variety of finishes can be applied to the granite and in particular, due to the density of this material, granite can be finished to a high reflective polish. The granite designs contained in this brochure will be suitable in most Municipal and Local Authority run cemeteries. However regulations do vary from place to place. For example, some cemeteries will no longer permit a kerb surround. Regulations in Church of England churchyards are more restrictive on the type of stone permitted for a memorial. Most churchyards will only allow traditional local stone or stone similar in appearance, for example Portland, Purbeck and Nabresina stone. The only granite which is usually permitted in most churchyards is Grey granite, which is also restricted to an eggshell finish. A range of memorial designs which are more suitable for a churchyard are contained in our separate brochure Memorials by Craftsmen, which is available on request. This brochure also contains a range of designs in Italian White marble. In any event, before choosing the memorial, we recommend that you discuss your requirements with one of our experienced members of staff who will be able to advise you depending on any restrictions which may apply.
