3 GLASNEVIN TRUST Under the conservation and restoration programme, started in 2006, much of Glasnevin Cemetery has been transformed from a neglected, shabby, dark and dismal place back to its former pristine condition of a Victorian Garden Cemetery, as it was originally designed A garden in which our loved ones are interred. In order to preserve the integrity, character, beauty and ambience of our restored garden cemetery, it is the policy of the cemetery that monuments erected on graves in the cemeteries conservation area from the Prospect Gate to the AH walk be of a similar style and material of monuments adjacent, that is, if you count five monuments to the left or right of your grave and select a monument of your liking of similar size and material. Newlands Cross is also home to the Glasnevin Trust Monuments Workshop. I am the current Manager of the Monument Works and have been with Glasnevin Trust Monument Works over 35 Years. We have a skilled team of seven staff members qualified in stonecutting plus one apprentice. The Monument Works team pride ourselves on using the best materials (including 23.5 carat gold leaf) and can design to your specifications to give your loved ones the tribute they deserve. 26 GLASNEVIN TRUST MONUMENT WORKS RENOVATION AND RESTORATION Before Renovation and Restoration With our new steam based cleaning systems we can bring your old sentimental headstones back like new. Doff and torc cleaning systems We are delighted to offer our clients a high quality service with the addition of the latest high tech equipment available in the cleaning industry. With state of the art cleaning system such as the doff steam based cleaning system and the torc system at hand we can provide an outstanding service that gets the job done quickly, efficiently and is safe for the environment. We also seal your monument after cleaning to keep your monument cleaner for a longer period of time. The doff system is a steam based stone cleaning system unlike any other steam system and can achieve temperatures of 150 C at the nozzle end. After We can vary the temperatures and pressure to remove many types of paint or biological matter. The steam removes moss, algae, fungi and other biological matter and kills spores. This means there is no need to use a chemical biocide during the removal process or as a protection against further biological activity. Additional inscription and ceramic photos We also add names to monuments on site and can match all kinds of letters blasted on, hand chiselled lead letters etc. for a free quote contact our offices located in all our cemeteries. We still send our cermatic photos to Italy for their quality and to ensure they are long lasting. They bake the photos, which helps them last longer in our climate.
