Introduction of FortiClient The FortiClient Host Security application is a VPN client with antivirus, antispam and firewall capabilities. FortiClient PC and FortiClient Mobile provide unified security agent features for personal computers and smartphones including Personal Firewall, IPSec VPN, antivirus, antispyware, antispam and web content filtering. FortiClient's protection agent is powered by FortiGuard security subscription services to ensure devices are comprehensibly protected against today's blended threats. FortiClient light-weight unified software agents are available for Microsoft Windows XP, Microsoft Vista, and Windows Mobile and Symbian operating systems. FortiClient users are usually mobile or remote users who need to connect to a private network behind a FortiGate unit. For example, the users might be employees who connect to the office network while traveling or from their homes. Key Features of FortiClient PC & Mobile 1. Installation of FortiClient FortiClient you can install based on software supplied to you by Syentis Software Pvt Ltd, Bangalore or you can download the FortiClient from http://www.fortinet.com. We will start installing the software we have dump in your system. Please navigate the FortiClient software and double click on FortiClient for us it is F:\FortiClientSetup_4.2.0.0250 Location will change based on your system. Page 3 of 14
Installation will start and it will check for the system requirement. Please find the system Requirement for installing FortiClient software. System requirement for FortiClient 4.0 To install FortiClient 4.0 you need: 1. Pentium processor or equivalent 2. 600 MB hard disk space 3. Compatible Operating System & Minimum RAM a. Windows 2000: 128 MB b. Windows XP 32-bit and 64-bit: 256 MB c. Windows Server 2003 32-bit and 64-bit: 384 MB d. Microsoft Windows Server 2003 R2: 384MB e. Windows Server 2008 32-bit and 64-bit: 512 MB f. Microsoft Windows Server 2008 R2: 512MB g. Windows Vista 32-bit and 64-bit: 512 MB h. Windows 7 32-bit and 64-bit: 512 MB 4. Native Microsoft TCP/IP communications protocol 5. Native Microsoft PPP dialer for dial-up connections. 6. An Ethernet connection After checking the system requirement a FortiClient InstallShield wizard will appears click next to proceed Page 4 of 14
Select Free edition and click next Please accept the License agreement and press next to proceed In next option you need to select the setup type, so please select custom option and click next to proceed further Page 5 of 14
In custom option please disable all option except IPSec VPN and click next to proceed Ready to install FortiClient 4.0 click install to install the FortiClient in your system. Page 6 of 14

Click finish to complete the FortiClient installation After successful installation of FortiClient 3.0 the configuration wizard will appears and it will allow you to configure your FortiClient 3.0 product. Page 8 of 14
Configuring FortiClient 4.0 A welcome wizard will appears which will help you to configure the FortiClient 4.0 in your computer. Select setup type basic and click on next to proceed Next Update Page 9 of 14
The configuration of FortiClient is completed, click close to complete configuration. Page 10 of 14
After completion of FortiClient configuration, you will be prompted with main dashboard of FortiClient 4.0 Uncheck show FortiClient console when I logon into windows. Page 11 of 14
Configuring new dialup-client in FortiClient 4.0 To create new dialup VPN open the FortiClient console and click on VPN image (1) than click on advanced (2) option and click on Add (3). Click Import and select the location of the IIAP IPsec VPN file and click on open. You will able to see the IIAP IPsec VPN configuration like this Page 12 of 14
Select the IIAP IPsec VPN and click on the connect. It will ask the user name and password linke this Note: User Name and password will be provided by IIAP IT Team. After that you can start you normal operation. Now you are connected to the IIAP LAN through VPN. Page 13 of 14
