Each wool fiber can absorb up to one third of its own weight in moisture without feeling clammy or wet to the touch. Wool fiber is porous, meaning the fiber absorbs vapor before it condenses. Also being porous, the fiber transfers the moisture away from the skin to the outside quicker and more efficiently. Merino wool can absorb and release considerably more moisture than any synthetic. Wool is also naturally flame retardant. Wool is naturally odor resistant due to wool having an inability to host odor producing bacteria. Since wool keeps you drier, there is less of a breeding ground for odor causing bacteria. Also, wool contains Amino Acids which actually break down bacteria, unlike any synthetic fiber. Merino wool offers a more natural, renewable, recyclable, biodegradable and durable fabric than that of fossil fuel plastic derivatives such as polyester and polypropylene.
