1. Introducing Magento Affiliate An affiliate program is one of the most powerful ways to market your products online. With well-organized affiliate program, you can gain increased traffic and sales, generate qualified leads, extend your brand awareness, and get better search engine rankings. The Magento Affiliate extension allows you to organize automated advertising campaigns that will help promote your products or services round the clock. With the Magento Affiliate module, you pay the affiliate based on conversion of sales. If a customer follows an affiliate link to your website and makes a purchase in accordance with the rules of your campaign, the affiliate is paid. You can pay him or her fixed percent rate, tier percent rate, fixed amount or tier amount. So the charm of Magento Affiliate is that it allows you to build a team of sales reps which use their visitors and opt-in lists to advertise your products and services. You don t have to pay them anything until they make a profit for you. Magento Affiliate User Guide 3
2. Magento Affiliate Configuration Go to the System aheadworks Extensions Magento Affiliate backend page (or Magento Affiliate Settings). General 1. Define whether affiliate cookie can be rewritten by another affiliate. If No is selected in the Rewrite affiliate cookie field, another affiliate is not paid when the customer follows the link to the same store as the first affiliate promoted. If Yes is selected in the Rewrite affiliate cookie field, another affiliate is paid when the customer follows the link. Note: an affiliate can be paid only if the status of the customer s order is set to Complete. 2. In the Consider taxes field, define whether to include tax amount in the earning calculation or not. 3. Specify for which customer groups affiliates accounts will be created automatically. 4. Click the Delete all transactions and withdrawals button if you want to set all affiliates balance to 0. Note: if you delete all transactions and withdrawals, you will not be able to recover the previous affiliates data. Magento Affiliate User Guide 4
Notifications The Magento Affiliate extension allows you to receive email notifications of new withdrawal requests. 1. Enable the opportunity of sending email notifications of new withdrawal requests to your email address. 2. Specify email address in the Send email to field, where all the notifications about new withdrawal requests will be sent to. 3. In the Email sender field, specify the sender of emails notifying about new withdrawal requests. 4. The templates in the New withdrawals request template, Withdrawals request succeed template, and Withdrawal request failed template fields are selected by default. Withdrawals 1. Define the minimum amount of the available affiliates balance to make them able to request withdrawals. 2. In the Commissions holding period field, specify the quantity of days after the order placing when the affiliate will not be able to withdraw. Click the Save Config button. 3. Campaigns The Magento Affiliate extension allows you to create advertising campaigns that will help you to promote your products or services. Go to the Magento Affiliate Campaigns backend page. Here you can view the full list of campaigns. From the Manage Campaigns page, you have the possibility to delete any campaign. Magento Affiliate User Guide 6
To add a new campaign, click the Add New button. General 1. In the Name field, specify the title of the campaign. 2. In the Store field, specify the store where the campaign will be available. 3. Define the time period in the Active From and Active To fields when the campaign will be active. 4. Set the Status field to Active. 5. Select customer group(s) of affiliates who can access the campaign. 6. Specify the campaign description. 7. Click the Save and Continue Edit button. Rate In this tab, specify the way an affiliate is paid. Define the type of rating in the Type field. It can be: Fixed percent rate, Tier percent rate, Fixed amount (base currency), or Tier amount (base currency). Magento Affiliate User Guide 7
If you define the Fixed percent rate or Fixed amount (base currency) option, you should specify the amount or the percent which will be paid to affiliate per each earning. If you define the Tier percent rate or Tier amount (base currency) option: 1. Specify the calculation type: Last month or All time. 2. Click the Add Tier button. 3. Specify the amount of the earning. 4. Choose customer group of affiliates who can access the campaign. 5. Define the amount or the percent which will be paid to affiliate. 6. Conditions In the Conditions tab, you can create different rules which will fetch commissions to affiliates if applied. If you don t specify any conditions, the rule will be applied to all orders completed in your store. Click the Save Campaign button. You can define different conditions, for example: the subtotal of the bought products is greater than 300 the shipping country is United Kingdom or the products bought from the Cell Phones category Magento Affiliate User Guide 9
4. Affiliates The Magento Affiliate extension allows you to create a base of affiliates, who will promote your products over the Internet. You pay the affiliate basing on conversion of sales. If a customer follows an affiliate link to your website and makes a purchase in accordance with the rules of your campaign, the affiliate is paid. Note: the affiliate is paid only if the status of the order is Complete. Go to the Magento Affiliate Manage Affiliates backend page. Here you can view the full list of affiliates in your store. From the Manage Affiliates page, you have the possibility to View Customer, Edit, or Delete the affiliate. Choose the required affiliate and specify the necessary option in the Action field. You can also change the status of the affiliate. Just select the Change Status option in the Actions field and specify the required status in the Status field. Creating New Affiliate To create a new affiliate, click the Add New button and choose the required customer. Magento Affiliate User Guide 10
In the General Information tab, set the Status field to Active and click the Save Affiliate button. After saving the affiliate, the Total Affiliated and Affiliated Last Month fields are added to the General Information tab. These fields contain the information about the affiliate s earnings for the whole time and the last month. Magento Affiliate User Guide 11
If the affiliate is saved, a new Balance tab appears. Here you can find the current affiliate s balance, view all the transactions and withdrawals, and add a profit to affiliate s current balance. To add a profit, specify the amount of the commission, choose the campaign, leave a comment if necessary and click the Add button. Then click the Save Affiliate button. Note: the comment is visible only for admins. When the affiliate is created, the Affiliate Program tab is added to the customer s account page. The information about affiliate s earnings, withdrawals, and campaigns are displayed here. The Life time earnings field displays the full amount of earnings during the whole affiliate s life. The Total earnings field shows the whole amount of earnings without paid withdrawals. Magento Affiliate User Guide 12
The Available balance field shows the total earnings without pending withdrawals. Generating Affiliate Link In the Campaigns tab on the My Account page, an affiliate can view all the information about the campaigns: rate, earnings, and status of the campaign. To take part in the campaign, click the View link of the required campaign. Magento Affiliate User Guide 13
In the Tracking Link tab, the link to the website is displayed automatically. To promote different products or categories, you can define a link to the necessary place of the store in the Website Link field. Specify the traffic source and generate a tracking link by clicking the Generate Link button. Note: the Traffic Source field is required only for grouping data in reports. The link from the Tracking Link field can be used by an affiliate to promote your products or services. Magento Affiliate User Guide 14
Withdrawals If a customer follows the affiliate s link to your website and makes a purchase in accordance with the rules of your campaign, the affiliate is paid. The affiliate can request withdrawals for his earnings from the Affiliate Program tab on the My Account page. Click the Request Withdrawals button. Note: the affiliate can request withdrawals only if the value specified in the Available balance field is greater than the value of the Minimum amount to withdraw field (see page 5). Specify the necessary value in the Amount field and enter some details if necessary. Then click the Submit button. After the withdrawal is requested, it is displayed on the Magento Affiliate Withdrawals backend page. The status of the withdrawal is set to Pending automatically. Magento Affiliate User Guide 15
From the Withdrawals page, you can change the status of the withdrawals massively: 1. Tick off the required withdrawals. 2. Specify the Change Status option in the Actions field. 3. Define the status of the request in the Status field. 4. Click the Submit button. If you click the Edit link, the Manage Withdrawals Request page will be opened. From this page, you can change the status of the chosen withdrawal request. Select the status in the Status field: pending, paid, rejected, or failed. Click the Save button. 5. Reports The Magento Affiliate extension allows affiliates to create different types of reports. To create a report, click the Create new report link in the Affiliate Program tab on the My Account page. Magento Affiliate User Guide 17
On the Reports page, you can choose: 1. Type of the report: Sales Report Conversion Report Traffic Source Report 2. Date period: Today Yesterday Last 7 days This month All time Custom period If you select the Custom period option in the Date period field, you should define the start and the end of the period in the From and To fields. 3. Graph by: Day Month Year 4. Campaigns for analysis. Click the Create Report button. Magento Affiliate User Guide 18
Sales Report 1. Select Sales Report in the Report type field. 2. Define the period of time for analysis. 3. Specify how the report will be graphed by. 4. Choose the campaign(s). 5. Click the Create Report button. After specifying all parameters, a chart and a table will be displayed on the Report page. From this page, you can analyze the information about sales during the required period of time. Magento Affiliate User Guide 19

Conversion Report 1. Select the Conversion Report option in the Report type field. 2. Define the period of time for analysis. 3. Specify how the report will be graphed by. 4. Choose the campaign(s). 5. Click the Create Report button. After specifying all parameters, an additional table will be displayed on the Reports page. Traffic Source Report 1. Select the Traffic Source option in the Report type field. 2. Define the period of time for analysis. 3. Specify how the report will be graphed by. 4. Choose the campaign(s). 5. Click the Create Report button. After specifying all parameters, an additional table will be added to the Reports page.
